The Moon Goddess smiled at him, her eyes crinkling at the corners.

"Only you, Quartz, would be so bold as to challenge me. Be at peace, my barbarian king. I mean no harm to your mate. I will conduct my business with her quickly and return her to you as good as, or better than, I found her."

It wasn't like he - or any of us - could protest or deny her. She was the Moon Goddess, after all. As Wyatt had told Posy at the beach, we would fight anything for her, but some things we had no chance to win against.

That didn't stop us from trying. Even though I couldn't link with my brothers, I knew they were battling the Goddess' power to reach our girl's side as hard as I was.

Moon Goddess will not harm mate,Ashy, Sid scolded me.Moon Goddess here to help.

Help what?I snarled, pushing with all my might against the force holding me.

Spring and Reau.Sid nodded, his bright, almond-shaped eyes sweet and innocent. Trust Moon Goddess, Ashy, like always. She only ever help us. No different now. And mate can take care of herself. Mate is strong!

Sighing, I admitted he was right. The Goddesshadonly ever helped us and our pack, even blessed us. And Posywasstrong. The strongest luna on the whole damn planet.

I almost wanted the Moon Goddess to do something just to see Posy put her on her ass.

All right, buddy,I smirked.I'll trust the Goddess.

Good boy, A—

But just in case,I interrupted him, prepare for war.

I didn't care if we had to fight a fucking Goddess. Nothing and no one was ever going to harm our girl again.

So it was with wary, narrowed eyes that I watched as Posy, Thoreau, and Spring talked to the Goddess. I wished I could hear, but she'd put up a wall or something around them. All I had to go on was their facial expressions and body language, and I wasn't too great at reading either.

She kept her distance from our girl, at least, which eased my mind a bit, but then she gestured with her hands, and Thoreau stepped up to Posy's left side and Spring to her right. Posy put one hand on Spring's head and the other over Thoreau's heart, and the Moon Goddess nodded.

Wave after wave of power flowed through the mate bond, and I could feel Posy siphoning moon magic out of Dark Woods.

I bet anything my brothers are experiencing the same.

It wasn't painful, quite the opposite. The magic was a warm velvet glove rubbing all over me as Posy drew it into her.

Then a flash of moonlight blinded me for a second. When my vision cleared, my eyes immediately ran up and down our girl, looking for injuries. She seemed fine as she stared at Thoreau.

Wait. Where's Spring?

Inside Reau, Sid gasped.Mate join them!

She merged them?I scowled, not believing him.

As if to erase all doubt, Thoreau shed his t-shirt and shoes almost frantically, then shifted into Spring, who tipped his head back and howled.

Holy shit!My jaw dropped as my eyes bugged out of my head.

Bad word, Ashy.

Sorry, buddy, but that's our girl!A wide grin spread over my face as I hollered,OH, YEAH! THAT'S OUR GIRL!

Of course mate is our girl.Sid tilted his head to the side with a frown.Who else would she be?

Everything faded to silence and darkness. I couldn’t hear or link anyone, and all I could see was Spring, Thoreau, and a beautiful lady who stood before us.
