"DOWN. NOW." I pulled up every ounce of moon magic I had, drew all the alpha power I could from Five Fangsandmy own Earthshine pack, and threw it all at Quartz.
It hit him like an invisible fist, knocked him down, and pushed him five feet across the room before he fetched up against the oven. I thought that might be enough to bring him back to his senses, but he only stood with a snarl and started toward Wyatt again.
Hustling in front of Ash, I roared at him to get Wyatt out of here, then linked the betas to find Posy. She was still somewhere nearby, if her ear-piercing screams were anything to go by, and I didn't want her to see what was about to happen.
Then the back door opened and a black missile slammed into Quartz's side, saving us all.

Ranger Hemming
"Code Q!" Beta Tristan suddenly barked. "In the kitchen!"'
Julian immediately tugged off his shirt and shucked off his shoes and let Onyx take over.
"What's happening?" Lilah asked with wide, frightened eyes.
Her mate was too busy shifting to tell her, so I did.
"Nothing good. You stay with me. Julian will handle this."
Opening the back door for my brother, I waited until Onyx barreled inside, then pulled the door closed again.
"What do you want us to do, Ranger?" Gisela asked.
I went over to Lilah and grabbed her hand and pulled her away from the door.
"Protect the queen. Alpha Jayden's wolf, Quartz, has gone off the rails for some reason," I explained quickly. "Once that happens, no wolf other than Nyx can take him on. Just keep everyone vulnerable out of their path of destruction."
Quartz angry, Cole fretted and paced back and forth in my mind.Quartz angry for real!
I know. Nyx will settle him down, though.
The sounds of wolves fighting grew louder and more intense, although Posy's screams faded to nothing, and I hoped someone had had the good sense to take her to another room and not left her to faint on the bloody floor.
"What's happening?" Lilah demanded.
"Julian probably—"
I was interrupted by the back door exploding into toothpicks.
Oops. Guess I should have left it open.
Two balls of fur, one pure white and the other midnight black, rolled around in a tangled mass as they ripped and tore at each other.
I put Lilah behind my back and shuffled her against the side of the house, and Gisela and Luke made a wall in front of us.
"Is that black horse of a wolfNyx?" Lilah gasped. "But the white wolf is Quartz! Why are they fighting? I thought they were friends! Ranger, what's—"
"Yes, it’s Nyx, and it may not look like it, but he’s getting Q away from here so he can't hurt anyone. Just watch."
It might look like chaotic violence to others, but I could clearly see how Nyx was forcing Quartz closer to the forest. The two wolves fought and rolled until Nyx had them out of sight in the trees, leaving only fading yips, whines, and growls behind.
I turned to check on Lilah only for her to grab my shirt in her fists and pull me down so we were eye to eye.
"What is my matedoing?"
My mouth opened, but no words came out. I was too shocked by my sweet sister-in-law's sudden aggression.
