Page 59 of Mates: Posy

"I’ve been in the same situation." I nodded. "Only rest helps. If you need anything, though, tell us and we’ll get it for you. I mean it.Anything."

"Thank you, luna."

"No, no. Call me Posy. Please."

By then we were in the kitchen and found Peri’s bum sticking out of the fridge. Lilah and I traded grins and I giggled. Peri shot up and whirled around with wide eyes.

"Oh, it’s just you." She pressed a hand over her heart. "I should have known. If it was one of my brothers, they would have smacked my butt or tried to close my head in the fridge. Stupid boys."

"Peri, this is Lilah MacGregor. Lilah, this is Peri Barlow."

"It’s nice to meet you!" Peri came over and shook hands with her.

She didn’t seem fazed by Lilah’s appearance, and I was dead certain Cole had linked her about it.

I can’t wait to get the mindlink with my mates! It’ll make communication so much easier.

We organized the drinks fairly quickly and carried them into the dining room, then called the guys. I made sure to sit Lilah between Peri and me with her brother across from her. It was as comfortable as I could make her. There was a brief flurry of movement to see who would get the seat next to me, and Ash hooted in victory when he got there first. The rest of my disgruntled mates arranged themselves around the table, and I introduced them to Lilah one at a time. Then everyone dug into the kabobs.

"Posy, Iknewthat dress would look so cute on you!" Peri leaned around Lilah to tell me. "Aren’t you glad you got it?"

"Yes. It’s comfortable and lightweight for summer. Your dress is very pretty, too."

"Thank you! I just finished it yesterday."

"Youmadeit?"

"I make a lot of my own clothes."

She shrugged as if it wasn’t a big deal, while I was still picking my jaw up off the floor.

"I’m sorry I didn’t dress up more," Lilah murmured. "We didn’t have time to pack any of our things. In fact, if it weren’t for Alpha Jayden’s generosity, I’d still be wearing my brother’s t-shirt with my pajama shorts."

"Well, we’ll fix that!" Peri smiled brightly. "Your outfit is very cute, though."

"I just realized I forgot to have Crew pick up shoes for you," Jayden said, "and the clothes most likely came from his mom."

"You can raid my closet later," I offered. "My mates bought me a ton of stuff today. You can pick out enough to last you until you can go shopping."

"We’ll go tomorrow!" Peri crowed, then looked at me. "Posy, Callie and Keeley Breckenridge are friends of mine. They’d like to meet you in better circumstances than what happened today. If you like them, maybe they can come with us. They have an awesome sense of fashion."

"Sure." I smiled at her.

"Um, hold up on those plans." Ash held up his index finger. "The king’s coming tomorrow."

"The king?" Lilah and I gasped in unison.

"Tomorrow?" Peri frowned. "I thought he wasn’t due until next week after the parents got back with the horde. He’s getting in the way of our shopping trip!"

"You go ahead and tell King Julian that." Cole smirked at her. "I’m sure he'll change his plans."

"It’s because of me, isn’t it?" Lilah whispered.

I reached over and picked up one of her hands and squeezed it.

"If Alpha Halder is planning an insurrection, the king needs to investigate as soon as possible," Jayden explained with a glance at Luke.

"AndI told him about you, too, Lilah," Ash admitted. "This is the second time in less than a week that we’ve had to inform him about an alpha abusing pack members. To say he's furious is understating it."
