"What time is he getting here?" Peri’s eyes flashed with determination.

"He’s the freaking werewolf king, Periwinkle." Wyatt rolled his eyes. "He’ll get here when he gets here."

"We can still go shopping. We’ll leave first thing in the morning." She looked over at us. "Do either of you drive? I can’t."

"Yeah, note she said shecan’t." Cole grinned. "Not won’t, not doesn’t.Can’t. She is not capable of operating a vehicle. Well, at least not if you want said vehicle to arrive home in one piece with all of its occupants uninjured."

"Ha ha ha, brother," she sneered back.

"I have no idea how to drive," I interrupted before they got into a spat.

"I’ll teach you!" Wyatt volunteered.

"Aw. I was going to say that," Ash pouted.

I wasn’t really that interested in learning to drive, but, if it made them happy, I could suffer through it.

"You can take turns," I offered with a soft smile. "I’m sure I’ll need lots and lots of practice and instructions."

"If nothing else, we can have the twins pick us up in Gretchen," Peri's face screwed up as she thought, "but it would be a little crowded."

"Who's Gretchen?" Lilah leaned over to whisper in my ear.

I shrugged.

"Lilah knows how to drive." Luke smiled at his sister. "She’s very good, too."

When everyone looked at her, her cheeks turned red.

"You can take my SUV," Cole offered. "You'll have plenty of room for everyone and whatever you buy."

"Thank you, Cole." I smiled at him, flashing my dimples.

"Of course, honey," he smiled back.

"That’s settled then." Peri’s eyes sparkled. "Right after breakfast, we’ll take off!"

"You’re not going alone."

We swiveled our heads to stare at Mason. It was the first he’d spoken since we sat down at the table.

"Why not?" Peri challenged.

He didn’t reply, but his body went completely still and his gray eyes stared at her without blinking.

My shoulders came up and I nodded rapidly, more than willing to agree when he looked likethat, but Peri wasn’t so compliant.

"Oh, come on, Mase! What could possibly happen?"

"You’re not going alone. End of."

"Hey, I know! Why doesn’t Posy take the betas?" Wyatt asked. "They’re her guard, after all, and she should get to know them."

"Itwouldgive my new beta a chance to interact with the others in a low-threat situation." Ash tapped his chin with his index finger.

"You have a new beta?" Luke sounded disappointed.

"Yeah. Eighteen next month and very green," Cole said, "but he was the only one in the pack with beta blood who was old enough to step up."
