“I like wine at home when I’m relaxing.”
“Ah, gotcha. Whiskey is just kind of... a strong drink.”
Astrid came back over and placed the glass in front of me.
“Bobby, your normal light beer?”
I almost choked on my whiskey when he nodded.
Fuck me. Doesn’t even drink real beer…
She brought over his bottle, and he wrapped his arm around me. It all just felt so wrong. As he was trying to talk with me, I could feel somebody staring at me across the bar.
I looked around the room and landed on a pair of dark green eyes on a brooding face;Moose.
His eyes zeroed in on where Bobby’s hand was touching my shoulder. Moose shook his head, then turned to talk to one of the other men in the club.
Bobby shook my shoulder. “You good?”
I plastered on that fake smile again. “Of course! Let’s dance.”
Mi Genteby J Balvin & Willy William played, perking me up a bit. Picking up my whiskey, I threw it back in one sip and took Bobby’s hand in mine. He followed behind me like a little lost puppy.
As we danced, I could see Moose stalking around the edge of the room. Those alluring green eyes never left mine.
I turned to face Bobby and swayed my hips as he grabbed them. He pulled me into him and placed a sloppy kiss on my neck.
“I never expected this side of you.”
I shrugged as I headed back to the bar as the song ended.
“I’m just full of surprises.”
Astrid brought me another whiskey and leaned in to whisper in my ear.
“Everything good?”
“Yeah. I’ll let you know if I need anything.”
She smiled and walked to the other end of the bar to deal with more customers. Looking around, I didn’t see Moose anywhere and sighed.
Why was I so obsessed with him? He’s your client, Lily! Get it together!
Bobby sat on a barstool and grabbed my ass, pulling me into his open legs.
“Can’t wait to see what else you surprise me with when we get back to your place.”
It was like somebody dumped an icy bucket of water on me. Bobby just assumed I was going to sleep with him on the first date was a huge turnoff for me.
And there was strike three.
“Yeah... listen. I’m gonna head to the bathroom. Be right back.”
As I pushed through the crowd, I sent a text to Astrid, asking her to keep an eye on Bobby. Something just felt very off about him. I pushed into the bathroom door and immediately dumped my drink down the sink.
I’ll just have Astrid make a new one.
The door slammed open, and I jumped, turning around to see Moose. He locked the door behind him and stalked toward me.
