“I fucking knew it. I mean, some are real, but they’re old. Like…” He shuffled around and grabbed one. “This one. She was a club girl but has been gone for almost four years now.”

I grabbed it and compared it to one of the fakes.

“How do you know this?”

Moose chuckled. “I’ve got programs.”

“Top secret, huh?”

He nodded. “I’m gonna find out where these pictures came from, though. I have a feeling they were gonna be used for something else but they somehow found the right opportunity now.”

“I feel like such an idiot. I should have trusted him…”

Some tears fell, and Moose pulled me into his arms.

“It’s okay, Sav. Hawk still needs you, so just give him a call in the morning. Did you open the box from him?”

I shook my head and walked over. Pulling the top open, I gasped.

“It’s the bee themed Nordicware I wanted! How did he…?”

Moose just smiled. “The man has some pretty strong feelings for you.”

“I love him, Moose. I really love him, and I want things to be okay again. My heart can’t take it anymore.”

“Then talk to him, babe. He’s ready to open up and tell you about his past. So get some sleep and call him in the morning. If you need to take the day off, just shoot me a text. But heal your heart, Sav.”

I smiled and walked over to Moose, wrapping my arms around him.

“Thank you. I’m so lucky to have you.”

“I’ll do anything for my kids.”

Looking up, I tilted my head. “You really want to claim my crazy ass as your child?”

Moose kissed me on the forehead and laughed. “Absolutely. Now get your ass to bed and call Hawk tomorrow. Maybe he’ll stop moping around the clubhouse once he hears from you.”

I laughed as I walked him to the door. “Goodnight, Moose. And thank you for everything.”

I locked the door and headed to bed. I felt so much better about everything going forward. Yeah, I was a fucking idiot, but I was going to prove how sorry I was and make up for all my harsh words.

Pulling the blankets down, I climbed into bed with a smile on my face finally. I was going to put my pride aside tomorrow and talk to the man I loved.

A slight rustle woke me from my sleep. I looked at the clock and noticed it was about three in the morning. I went to close my eyes when I heard the noise again.

I quietly grabbed the gun Hawk had left in my bedside drawer and got out of bed. I cocked it back and slowly moved through my apartment.

I checked the door and made sure it was still locked. All my windows were closed and nothing seemed out of place.

I quietly moved back to my room, watching the shadows around me. A chill went down my spine and it just felt like something was off.

Moving the blankets aside, I went to climb back into bed when two strong arms grabbed me. A hand flew over my mouth so I couldn’t scream.

I threw my head back and rammed it into the stranger's nose. I could hear the crack as he swore under his breath.

I tried my best to elbow him in the stomach before pulling my leg up and kicking him in the groin.

He fell to the ground, and I ran toward my front door. The man grabbed my ankles and dropped me to the floor. I screamed as he dragged me toward him.
