His hand went over my mouth and I bit down as hard as I could. He screamed and swore and that’s when I finally recognized the voice; Lloyd.

Running, I flipped the lights on as I tried to make it to the door. Lloyd ran and threw me to the floor.

“Stop fucking running, Savannah!”

He tried to punch me as I rolled away from him.

“No! I’m not going out this way!”

Lloyd pushed me back on the couch, standing in my way to the only exit.

“I told you, Savannah. If I can’t have you, nobody can. You’re mine. I made you who you are today!”

I shook my head. “You’re crazy! Go be with the other woman you cheated on me with!”

Lloyd threw his head back and laughed. “None of them are you. I pushed them away but you, you are my prize, Savannah. My trained woman to keep at home.”

He edged toward me, and I jumped up to run. Lloyd roared as he ran toward me, tackling me to the floor once again.

Lloyd punched me over and over, and I was losing consciousness. Turning my head, I saw the gun laying underneath the coffee table.

Slowly, I tried to move toward it. Lloyd moved with me, kicking and punching me, shouting nonsense as he beat down on me.

I finally was able to reach out and grabbed the butt of the gun. Slowly, I pulled it underneath me.

I rolled onto my back and aimed it right up toward Lloyd. He went still and then realized what I had. But by that time, it was too late. I pulled the trigger, sending the bullet right into his chest.

Lloyd stumbled back, knocking into all of my furniture. I slowly got up and shot again, hitting him in the chest again.

“Savannah…”

I dropped the gun as Lloyd crumpled to the ground. My hands shook, and I ran toward my bedroom.

I just killed a man... I killed Lloyd…

Trying to find my phone, I stumbled through my room as my hands shook. I finally found my cell phone but dropped it a few times before I could dial the first person who came to mind; Hawk.

I just hoped he was sober enough to come here and save me from whatever trouble I was about to get in for killing a man.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Hawk

Aringinginmyear woke me and I turned to see somebody was calling me. I grabbed it and saw Savannah’s name flashing across the screen. I swiped my thumb across to answer.

“Sav? Is everything okay?”

She was breathing heavily and crying.

“Fuck. Hawk... I just need you here right now. Can you please come to my place? Oh fuck, Wyatt. What did I do?”

“Savannah? Are you hurt? I’m on my way but I need to know if you’re safe.”

She cried again.

“I don’t know.”

“Take some deep breaths, baby. I’m on my way.”
