“Stop it. Stop this shit right now. I’m not a fucking game to be played.”

“I’m not playing, Savannah. You’re like this magnet that keeps pulling me toward you no matter what I do to stop it.”

I shook my head and backed away. “Enough. Just sit here and shut up until my shift is over.”

He nodded his head and sat back to eat his burger. I walked past Gracie, who was staring at me from behind the counter.

“Nope. We’re not going there, Gracie. Ignore him and everything that just happened.”

She giggled and grabbed a rag to wash down the tables.

“Girl, do you need a break to deal with that sexual tension? Cause shit, I do.”

I shook my head and leaned against the counter. “That’s gross. There’s nothing there except for him. But he’s like that with all the women around town.”

“Uh, nope. I’ve seen him in action. He doesn’t say heart pounding shit to just anybody. And those were full on,I’m gonna fuck the shit out of youeyes.”

“Gracie!”

She laughed as she walked past me. “Just sayin’. That man wants you in the worst way and when you finally give in, he’s gonna rock your fucking world.”

All I could do was shake my head as Gracie cleaned. Hawk was certainly a good-looking man, but I had only been with one man before. I pushed those thoughts out of my head and got back to work, avoiding all eye contact with Hawk.

Ourlastcustomerfinallyleft, and I locked the door behind them. The cook and dishwasher left, and Gracie and I quickly cleaned the rest of the diner.

Hawk sat quietly in the booth the entire time. As we finished mopping the floor, I walked over to him and tapped his shoulder.

“Let’s go.”

He slowly stood as he slightly swayed. Hawk was still trashed, and I sighed as I grabbed his elbow and led him outside. Gracie headed to her car, and I locked up.

Hawk smiled at me as I faced him. “What are you so happy about? We have to walk back to the clubhouse and leave your bike here.”

“More time to spend with a pretty lady.”

I sighed as we walked down the sidewalk. Downtown was all lit up as couples walked home from their nights out.

Some smiled at us, while others gave us funny looks. I ignored them all, knowing some would run back and tell Lloyd who I was out with.

Little did they know, I was just trying to get a drunk home safely. I didn’t want him to get in trouble with the club, despite him making me angry.

Deep down inside, Hawk was a caring man and had gone above and beyond for me. Why he did it, I would never know. But this was the least I could do for him.

The sidewalk ended, and we stepped off into the dirt. The lights became further apart as we made our way toward the clubhouse.

I moved a little closer to Hawk as the lights faded and the darkness engulfed us. Even wasted, he held on tight to me with one hand, ready to pull his gun if danger crept out of the darkness.

I could see the lights from the gate up ahead and walked a little faster. As we reached them, the Prospect came out and looked at Hawk and I.

“What the fuck happened to him?”

“Drove drunk to the diner. Can you let us in and show me where his room is?”

He nodded and opened the gates, then closed them behind us. The Prospect motioned toward the old brick building and followed behind Hawk and I.

“What the fuck, shit head? Don’t you know how to open a fucking door for the lady?”

I shook my head as Hawk stumbled in front of me to reach for the door. The Prospect sighed.
