“Sorry I just…”
I turned to him and gently smiled. “It’s okay. I got it from here.”
He nodded and walked back outside while I raced to catch up with Hawk inside.
We walked up a set of metal steps to a long hallway. Hawk stumbled down until I caught him and held him up.
“You’re a shitshow, Hawk.”
“Yeah, but I still walked on the outside and held the door open for you. I can be a fucking gentleman.”
I sighed as he leaned against the wall and struggled to open the door next to us. He finally got it and swung it open.
“Welcome to my home.”
Hawk opened his arms wide open as I closed the door behind us. I looked around the room as he headed to a small door and I heard water running.
It was all exposed brick with a dark green bed sitting in the middle of two tall windows. An old truck sat at the bottom with a dark green loveseat set off to one wall.
There were two mismatched rugs that sat at the end of the bed and mismatched blankets crumpled on the bed.
Old black and white movie posters were hung on the walls and I walked around to see small knick knacks spread around on the various unmatched dressers and chests.
Despite Hawk being part of a motorcycle club, he felt very old school, and this room showed me exactly who he was.
Hawk stumbled out of the bathroom in just a pair of boxers and collapsed on the bed. I sighed as I covered him up and turned the lamp off. The moonlight shined in, leaving the perfect amount of light.
I went to walk away when he grabbed my hand and pulled me to the bed.
“Stay with me please, Sav. You can’t walk home by yourself. It’s too dangerous.”
I shook my head. “I’ll be fine. Won’t be the first time I’ve walked this town in the dark. Plus, you and I both know I can’t stay here.”
“I’ll sleep on the couch. You can have the bed all to yourself.”
I eyed the small couch and looked back at Hawk. “No. Sleep in your bed, Hawk. There’s no way you can even fit on that tiny thing.”
He looked up at me with this sadness in those beautiful blue eyes.
“Please, Savannah.”
Goosebumps popped up all over my arms as he rubbed the back of my hand with his thumb.
“Don’t leave me tonight, babe. I’ll keep my hands to myself. Scout’s honor.”
I laughed as his lopsided smile made my heart beat a little faster. Sighing, I moved to the other side of the bed and grabbed a few blankets.
“Fine. But only because I don’t want you to choke on your own puke since you’re so drunk.”
I pushed a few blankets between us and rolled to my side. With our backs to each other, we slowly fell asleep.
Chapter Eight
Morninglightshonedownfrom the large windows and I groaned. I was tangled in blankets with a pounding headache and a set of arms and legs tangled with mine.
Wait what..?
I slowly opened my eyes, expecting one of the club sluts in my bed, and was getting ready to tell them to beat it when I looked to see Savannah.
