“Bambi, I-”

She shook her head. “No. Get out.”

Growling, I stormed out of the room. Savannah frustrated me to no fucking end. How could a woman like that stay with such a piece of shit like Lloyd?

I threw open the front door and stomped over to my bike. I revved the engine and took off toward the clubhouse. I needed a fucking drink and to escape the pull Savannah had on me.

I was pining after a woman who wasn’t even mine. A woman who wanted nothing to do with me.

As I pulled into the clubhouse, I parked my bike haphazardly and stormed inside. Thor was sitting at the bar and looked up as I threw my helmet on the floor.

“What’s up your ass?”

“Fuck off.”

He laughed and reached around to grab me a beer. I ripped it from his hands and chugged half the bottle.

Slamming it down, I stared across the bar. Thor nudged me with his shoulder and I turned to look at him.

“Heard about Sav. I’m glad you were there.”

I grunted as he continued on.

“She needs somebody safe. Somebody to take it slow and understand she’s broken. She lost her way a long time ago and has no clue how to get back home.”

I peeled the label off the bottle as Thor spouted more bullshit.

“She needs a friend. Not you trying to get her in the bedroom. You showing up and being her big, bad protector makes things worse at home. Yeah, we all see those eyes she makes at you, but you gotta take it slow. Just be her shoulder to lean on while she finds her own way out. Be her protector, but let her save herself.”

“Are you fucking done? I didn’t come here to have some pussy talk. You have no fucking clue what you’re talking about, anyway. You were a prospect not too long ago, fucker.”

Thor just laughed as he got up from the bar.

“Whatever you say, Hawk. Just keep my advice in mind. I know what I’m talking about.”

I stormed back out the door and got on my motorcycle. I needed to get out of here and away from everybody for a bit.

Without even thinking, I drove by Hope Hearted and stared for a few minutes. Why that woman drove me so fucking crazy was beyond me. Maybe it was my past or something she had that I needed. Whatever it was, I needed more of Savannah.

But that wasn’t in my cards with her current situation. Maybe it never would be, but that wouldn’t stop me from protecting her.

Revving my engine, I tore down the street and around town until I found myself back at the clubhouse. I walked past everybody without saying a word and right up into my room.

I ripped my clothes off and stalked toward the shower. Turning it on as hot as it could go, I stood under the burning water as I thought of Savannah.

Chapter Three

Savannah

Iwokeupandturned to grab the pain pills Bambi had left me. Everything was still so sore no matter what I did. Lloyd had really done a number on me this time. I had just stayed in my room all day yesterday after my blow up with Hawk.

Bambi let me have my peace, but I knew she was going to come check on me today. I looked around and let a smile escape. Hope Hearted was a lovely place and Bambi had really worked hard to make it welcoming.

My room was a soft white with grey hardwood floors. The small wrought iron bed sat near the window with small pots of succulents on the windowsill. Above the bed were three white shelves with small little nick-nacks and pictures of our town.

The small wooden bedside table had a large snake plant next to it in a terracotta pot. It really made the room feel so much cozier.

The soft bed sheets were white with paint like black dots all over it. Two large pillows had the same pattern, along with two smaller soft purple pillows.
