“Fuck, man.”

“I know.”

Savannah rolled and grumbled as she shifted in the bed.

“So what’s the plan?”

I ran my hand through my hair. “Gonna stay the night with Sav. Lilah is letting the hospital know to be on watch. Can we have somebody trail Lloyd?”

“Yeah. I’ll get the Prospect on it.”

“Thanks, Pres. I’ll check in tomorrow.”

I hung up the phone and looked over at Savannah. How somebody could ever cheat on that woman was beyond me. The thought of Lloyd putting his hands on her made my blood boil.

Leaning back, I tried to close my eyes and think of something happier. Anything to get the thoughts of Lloyd out of my head before I hunted that fucker down.

I could picture sweet little Savannah on her knees, those big doe eyes looking up at me as she took my cock into her pouty lips.

In another image, I could see her bent over my bike. One of her flirty sundresses hiked over her hips as I pounded her from behind.

Then came the images that shook me to my core; Savannah cooking me dinner, her riding on the back of my bike, me buying her flowers just because. I wasn’t that man, but fuck, did I want to be that man for her.

My eyelids felt heavy as sleep slowly took over me. Sweet dreams of Savannah trickled through my mind as I let the darkness take me away.

Igroanedandrolledmy neck as I woke from the uncomfortable chair. Looking around, I saw Savannah was still sleeping.

I smiled as I watched her slowly wake and look around the room. She looked so beautiful, even with the bruises on her face.

When her green eyes hit mine, her face fell and you could see the wheels turning.

“Morning, sunshine.”

She glared at me and brought the blankets closer to her chin.

“What the fuck is going on?”

“Well, Lloyd got you pretty good last night. We brought you here to Hope Hearted. You slept and now we’re here.”

She looked around and then back at me.

“Why are you here?”

I shrugged, “Because I care about you. Wanted to make sure you were fine. Lilah said you have a concussion, and I was worried.”

“You don’t need to be worried about me. Why did you bring me here? Lloyd is gonna come here and then it’s just gonna be worse!” Savannah started to get out of bed and look for her shoes. “I need to get back before he gets home! He can’t know I was here... with you!”

I grabbed her shoes and waited for her to look at me. “Sav... he left this morning. Left from some seedy motel with some redhead, and went straight to the airport. You can rest.”

“No! You don’t understand!”

Frustrated, I got up and stalked closer to Savannah. “Because you won’t talk to me or anybody else and won’t let us help you! He’s a fucking worthless piece of shit and you still cling to him! Pack your shit and just come here where we can help you!”

“You don’t understand anything! You think you know me so well. Newsflash, Hawk; you have not one fucking clue who I am. I need to go. You all just made it ten times worse! You are not my friend! I can’t have friends like you! Why did you do this?”

The door flew open and Bambi came rushing in. She pointed to me and then to the door.

“Out. Get out right now.”
