“I know. That’s why I’m taking her home. See you fuckers later.”
Hawk hopped in front of me and took off toward Main Street. He held tight to my leg as we rode around the sharp curves.
Wefinallymadeitback to our apartment, and Hawk pulled into the alleyway to park. He helped me off the bike and picked me up in his arms.
“Don’t worry, I got you.”
My migraine was getting worse, and I squeezed my eyes shut. I could hear Hawk unlock the door and turn the alarm system off.
He carried me to our bedroom, where he made sure all the lights were off before helping me undress. I slowly opened my eyes to look at him and cried.
“Sav! What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?”
I shook my head as he slowly wrapped my hair in a silk scarf.
“No. I just don’t understand why you want to be with me. This isn’t even my real hair, for fuck’s sake! I’m always hiding inside like a fucking vampire in the dark. I’m moody. I don’t work. You should just be with somebody else.”
Hawk took my face in his hands and made me look into those sharp blue eyes.
“Look at me right now, Savannah. I am with you because I love you. I don’t care about your hair. You could not wear a wig and I would still fucking love you. I enjoy sitting at home with you. It’s whatIwant. I will support you for the rest of your life if you want to stay home. Because I love you. Do you get that? I’m not going anywhere, ever.”
I cried more and Hawk crawled up into the bed with me, pulling me into his lap. Hawk leaned back on the pillows as I cried my heart out. For everything that I had lost, everything that I had gained, and all the ugly scars I would have to bear for the rest of my life.
“I love you, Hawk.”
“And I love you, Sav.”
I cried until my body couldn’t produce anymore tears and my swollen eyes slowly closed. My breath slowed, and I could fall asleep, safe in my man’s loving arms.
I slowly woke to soft voices coming from the kitchen. Pulling a sweatshirt over my tank, I put the hood up and tiptoed out.
Hawk and Moose were standing in the kitchen, each of them had a bottle of beer in their hand. Moose sounded angry as he waved his hands in the air, almost spilling his beer.
“She’s trying to fucking take the kids! I don’t want to go to court, but I will. Just gotta save money for a lawyer first.”
Hawk shook his head. “Fuck that cunt, man. What can we do to help?”
“Dunno. I need to step back from the club. Fuck, Striker isn’t gonna like it.”
“You gotta tell him what’s going on, Brother.”
Moose took a sip of beer, “I know. I was trying to handle this on my own but, fuck. It’s just not working out like I planned. Tessa is a fucking bitch. Hasn’t seen the kids since they were babies and just wants to show up now and play house. Get the fuck out of here.”
I stepped forward, and both men turned to look at me.
“I know somebody who could help you. Lily would-”
Moose put his hand up and shook his head.
“No. That woman hates me and I hate her. I’ll find another lawyer.”
I laughed and walked into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.
“Lily won’t charge you a thing and will keep your kids safe. Try it... for me. Please?”
Moose sighed and rubbed his head.
“Fine. I’ll think about it. That woman is just too fucking high class for me. She’s hiding something. I can feel it. I just can’t trust somebody hiding a secret.”
