Before I knew what was happening, chaos erupted in the courtroom. Eckhart was on the ground and the people behind him were screaming and crying.
Lily pushed me toward Hawk as two officers led us toward a back door. Eckhart spit at me, screaming.
“Dead woman! Fucking dead! I’ll gut you after I have my way with you, you fucking bitch!”
I started to shake as he reached out for me. The bailiff slammed into his arm as Hawk pushed me toward the dim hallway.
I could hear Eckhart scream out and knew they were tasering him. We moved through the hallway and finally came out on the other side of the courthouse.
The officers opened another door, letting the sun spill inside.
“You’re all set. Need us to walk you back out front?”
Hawk shook his head as he held my hand.
“We’re good, but thanks.”
They nodded their heads as they walked back inside. Hawk pulled me toward the front of the building where Lily was waiting for us.
I was still shaking as Hawk sat me on his bike. Lily came over and was all smiles.
“You did it, Savannah!”
“What...what happened? I was so zoned out…”
Hawk leaned down and strapped my helmet on.
“Baby, you won. They found Eckhart guilty on all charges. And since Lloyd is dead, Eckhart has been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping. He’s going to prison for a very long time. He even threw Fran and my parents under the bus. Fran attacked you in the fire, Eckhart and her were working together. And my parents were the one feeding him info and more money. They’re all getting locked up. It’s all over, Sav.”
I turned and broke down, crying in his arms as everybody moved around us.
“It’s really all over?”
Hawk nodded and leaned down to kiss me.
“I promise you, baby. It’s all over and now the town knows who Eckhart really is.”
All I could do was nod while everybody celebrated around me. Lily tapped me on the arm, snapping me out of a zoned out session.
“Are you okay, Sav? You look really pale.”
Hawk rushed right back over when he heard Lily.
“I can feel a headache coming on…”
Lily turned to Hawk, “Get her home quick before she passes out on that damn bike.”
Moose barked out a sarcastic laugh. “Hawk would never let her fall. A bike really isn’t all that dangerous.”
“Ha. Those bikes are death traps. You’ll never catch me on the back of one.”
Moose just shook his head as Hawk helped me onto the back of his motorcycle.
“Nobody wants your prissy ass on the back of their bike anyway, so you don’t have to worry.”
Hawk walked in between them and put his hands up. “Alright, alright. Go home and touch yourself to each other to get the sexual tension out. I’m bringing Sav home cause she’s getting paler by the minute.”
Moose looked over and frowned. “Baby girl, you need to go home and rest.”
