“Oooh, have you ever watchedGrey’s Anatomy?” I asked him.
“Nah. What’s that?”
“Stop playing. Everybody knows whatGrey’s Anatomyis whether they’ve watched it before or not.”
“It sounds kind of familiar.”
“I’m about to familiarize you with it,” I said, picking up the remote control off the table and searching the show title.
“OK, Miss Cookie, you got down on this soup,” Liam commented.
“See? I told you with your trash talking self.”
“How the hell do I eat the bread though?” he asked with a frown.
“Eat the soup as you normally would. I put it in a bowl so you can tear the bread and eat both at the same time if you want to.”
“I’ll figure it out.”
I started the show from the first episode of season two before getting down to the business of eating. I glanced over at Liam, who didn’t seem to be having any problem eating the bread and soup.
“You have to pay attention, because if you don’t, you might miss something,” I advised him.
“Cool. What is it about?” he quizzed.
“Doctors and residents, who are kind of like interns, navigating love and life while being surgeons.”
“That sounds boring,” he stated.
“Well, it’s not.”
“That one must be Grey?” he asked, pointing at the screen.
“Yeah, that’s Meredith Grey.”
“So she’s so good they named the show after her?” he asked.
“She’s not good yet. She’s a resident. She’s just getting started. She’s just the main character.”
“What makes her the main character with all of these other people running around?”
“She just is. Her mom is a legend at the hospital,” I explained.
“Hospitals have legends?” he asked with a chuckle.
“Yeah, she’s a renowned surgeon who created all kinds of innovative techniques and won multiple awards for her surgical procedures and ideas.”
“Now that’s a show that I would watch.”
“It’s good. I promise.”
“You done?” Liam asked, standing and looking down at me.
I had barely started eating, and he was already finished. “Not yet.”
Since I was still eating, he went ahead to the kitchen. As if I hadn’t watched the entire series already, I tuned in to the show. The first few episodes were so nostalgic because they happened before the writers and producers killed off everybody I loved.
“Eat your food first. Then you can have dessert.”
