“Yes, sir.” I giggled, watching as Liam set down a bowl of vanilla ice cream with cookies lining the outside of the bowl.

As instructed, I ate what I wanted of the soup, leaving the bowl behind before picking up the ice cream. There were a variety of chocolate chip cookies with pieces of chocolate sandwich cookies, walnuts, and chocolateM&Mpieces on top of them.

“These cookies look good as hell. Let me find out you’re a baker.”

“I might not be a baker, but I can follow directions.” He shrugged.

“I don’t think the instructions said anything about adding chocolate chunks. These are good as hell by the way.”

“What’s your favorite dessert?” he asked me.

“Probably cookies. They’re versatile. It’s hard to find a cookie that I don’t like.”

“So, I hit the nail on the head when I called you Cookie.” He laughed.

“What’s your favorite food?”

“Probably barbecued ribs. The sides vary.”

“Thank you for being so sweet when I was being a bitch.”

“You’re good as long as you know you can hang that shit up.”

“I’ll play nice if you do,” I offered.

“I told you we can get along. You just have to want to. I’m just here to do my job. The shit is practically free money, so you can believe I’m not fucking this up just because you like to talk reckless.”

I sighed. “I said I was sorry.”

“You don’t have to repeat it. Just know that every time you come with it, I got something for it.”

“That attitude adjustment you mentioned earlier?” I teased with a crooked grin.

“Nah, but if you make my job hard, it’s going to be hard on both of us, not just me.” He shrugged.

“I see you like dealing in threats.”

“That’s not a threat, pretty girl. I’m just telling you how I feel. We’re not going to have any problems.”

“I like the confidence.” I smirked.

“Thank you. It’s warranted.”

“You done with your ice cream?” I asked, standing from my seat.

“Uh, yeah.”

I collected our dishes and headed to the kitchen. I went ahead and washed the dishes because I knew that once I sat down, I wasn’t going to want to get up. I hated going to bed with dishes in the sink.

“Who’s your person?” Liam asked when I walked back into the living room.

“Look at you paying attention.” I grinned grateful that he was actually paying attention to one of my favorite shows.

“It hasn’t got to that part yet. I looked the show up and saw that.”

“Oh so you’re cheating?”

“No, I just know I need to understand what you like if I’m going to understand you.”
