Shaking my head to clear the cruel thought, I focus on the here and now.
“I don’t even know if I’ll be able to sleep with you in my bed,” I confess. “I just know that you look like you haven’t slept and even if you just sleep on my floor, the movements outside of a bubble I can control will keep me up.”
“What’s the bubble you can control?” he asks.
“My bed. I know all of the blankets, pillows, everything that should be on my bed is here,” I explain. “So, if you’re in my bubble with me, maybe my brain will shut off from looking for the boogieman where none exists.”
“Is that why you can’t sleep?” he asks, laying down on the bed and getting comfortable. He shouldn’t look this good in my bed. “I want to snuggle, come lay with me?”
“I didn’t take you as a cuddler,” I murmur, getting under the blankets to join him.
His thick arm drags me closer, until half my body is over his chest, my head resting close to his neck. I can feel his heart beating, the sound as comforting now as I found it earlier when he was carrying me.
My eyes immediately start to droop. Why is Nacio the insomnia whisperer?
His hand rubs up my back slowly, making me sigh as the stress from today starts to drain from my body.
“Anything else I need to know?” he asks softly.
My words are sluggish as I speak, but I need to say something, even if it’s jumping the gun or hurts his feelings.
“Don’t touch me under my clothes while I’m sleeping, Nacio,” I whisper. “I’ll freak out.”
Liliana is a whole different situation, because not only do I trust her, my body knows her touch. Nacio doesn’t have the same privileges with my body.
“Don’t worry, little sister,” he murmurs, his fingers running through my hair now. “When I touch you under your clothes, it’ll be because you begged me to.”
The whimper that escapes is embarrassing, because my pussy just clamped hard at his words in desire. Holy hell, my stepbrother has game. His low chuckle is the last thing I hear as I drift off to sleep.
CHAPTER29
LILIANA
My life is weird and I will admit it. I haven’t seen Rachelle in three weeks because my dad had family in to visit, which I needed to be present as the hostess. It typically doesn’t bother me.
Dad never remarried, said he was too old to even think about it. He will wave off my family as well when they mention it, because it’s a known fact that Latino families will never mind their own business. The staff was given the opportunity to take the time off outside of the maids, and I cooked for my very large family.
I’m exhausted, happy they’re gone, and ready to see my girlfriend. Emil let me in this morning with a grin, telling me to head right up, but that she was probably still sleeping.
It’s about seven in the morning, which sounds about right. Rachelle isn’t someone who enjoys rising and shining unless she’s riding my face first thing in the morning.
Smirking, I jog upstairs with my bag to change into for a run later. Nacio told me that they were regularly going for a run. She and I need to start up our swim practices as well, something she wouldn’t trust him with.
Finding the door unlocked, I push it open to find Ignacio in bed with my girl. Eyebrow raised, I try to figure out how I feel about that. I know she doesn’t sleep well without me, and I’ve been feeling really guilty about having to stay away.
I’ve also been pushing them together at every turn, I remind myself. Shrugging, I step inside and close the door behind myself. Rachelle is snuggled in his arms, and they’re both sleeping deeply. There’s no sign of stress in either of their features, and I find I’m not upset.
I’m really happy, as long as there’s room for me.
“Good morning, sunshines,” I call out, amused, dropping my bag loudly.
Rachelle jerks hard in her sleep, making me wince. Fuck. I didn’t mean to startle her. Nacio surprises me, covering her with more of his body as if to protect her before opening his eyes. At this point, his arms are cradling her as she wakes up with her back to his chest.
It’s a protective stance, and I blink hard to keep happy tears away.
“Good morning, Lili,” Rachelle says sweetly, hiding her face as she yawns. “Come here.”
“It looks like you’re busy,” I tease her even as I take off my shoes.
