“Um,” Nacio says, looking down at Rachelle, trying to figure out what to say or do.
He could brush this off and lose his balls, or he can be smart and say something I’ll believe.
“She’s addictive,” he finally says. “You’re stuck with me, because I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep without her.”
“You’re growing up so well,” I say, smirking as I get into bed with them.
Ignacio makes sure there’s enough room for me, and Rachelle opens her arms for a hug. He refuses to let go, though he widens his embrace to include me. He makes me feel tiny, despite my height, and rubs my back as he yawns into Rachelle’s hair.
“So how long have you been sleeping with my girl?” I ask, chuckling.
“Since you left,” he says, grinning.
“I took pity on him,” my girl mumbles. Her face is snuggled into my breasts, and I’m reminded of how long it’s been since I’ve seen her. “He was going to sleep in the hallway.”
“He’s been doing that for a while,” I admit.
“Traitor,” he mutters, to my enjoyment.
“Absolutely,” I say. “So sleeping in the hallway wasn’t working for him?”
“I could hear him,” she says. “My body was on high alert, so everything made it difficult to sleep. I decided it was better for both of us if he was in the bed.”
“Because it’s your bubble,” I add, because we’ve talked about this before.
“It makes so much sense when she explains it,” Nacio murmurs, his face buried in her hair. “I don’t want to stop sleeping here.”
“We both like you,” I say. “As long as you treat us right, and don’t make me kill you for being an asshole, I’m perfectly fine with you in her bed.”
“Seriously?” he asks. “Is it that easy?”
“Not at all,” Rachelle says. “I’m sure guys complain all the time about having one girlfriend, imagine two?”
“Twice the PMS, twice the hormones…” I add, smirking.
“Twice the snuggles, adorable noises when you sleep, and listening to you two talk. Sign me up,” he murmurs. “Lili, you know I’ve been attracted to you since I realized that girls smelled good and could do things other than play in the mud with me.”
Unable to help the chuckle I make, I shake my head. It’s true, he’s been watching and protecting me with his friends for a long time. His friends are the issue though.
“What about the Kings?” I ask.
“The bet is wrong,” he says. “I was jealous, and put Rachelle in danger.”
The girl in question turns to face him, and I prop my head on my fist as my other hand rubs her hip. She’s wearing a pair of tiny shorts and an off the shoulder top. I don’t think she owns many other pairs of pajamas that cover her completely, simply because she tends to get too hot to sleep in them.
“I told the guys I won’t be funneling information to them anymore, because if Dad finds out, he’ll kill me,” he continues, his fingers playing in Rachelle’s soft hair.
It’s tussled and messy, exactly the way I love to wake up to her.
“I refuse to hurt her anymore,” Nacio says. “I’m done with this. I want Rachelle happy and healthy.”
“Won’t they wonder about that?” I ask, confused.
“The beginning of the school year is always a shit show and busy,” he says. “I’ll find myself having less time to hang out. I love those guys, but I’m having nightmares of what we did. I can’t help them hurt her.”
“You can’t claim either one of us in public,” I remind him. “It wouldn’t be safe for any of us.”
“So we’re going to secretly date?” Rachelle asks, turning onto her back to see us both. There’s a little wrinkle between her eyes, and I reach out to smooth it.
