Logan grinned and shook his head with a chuckle. The easiest way to get Faith to do something was to tell her she couldn’t. She was so stubborn and strong-willed, she’d go to the ends of the earth to prove you wrong. It was one of the things he found so incredibly sexy about her.

“Okay then,” he said after a moment. “I’ll play along, too. The only one who knows the truth is my mom. And your sister and Levi. But something tells me that they’re going to have a little too much fun playing along.”

She groaned on the other end of the line because she knew he was right. “Okay. I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.”

“Absolutely.” Out of the corner of his eye, Logan saw Damon, Nick, and Jeremy coming up the sidewalk. Nice to see that Damon and Jeremy were playing nice after both having athingfor Logan’s sister. It was all too weird to think about it, but…at least they were past that now.

He waited until they were close enough to overhear before he added, “Go have fun with the girls, Faith. I’ll see you at home later. I’ll be sure to wake you up when I come in.”

He was positive he heard her groan again before he disconnected the call and greeted his new brother-in-law, his new friend, and his old buddy, Jeremy.

“Was that Faith?” Jeremy asked.

He nodded.

“Did you just say what I think you said?”

Logan grinned. “I sure did. She finally came to her senses and saw what a catch I was.”

Damon let out a low whistle and shook his head. “I’m impressed,” he said. “I wasn’t sure I’d ever see the day.”

Logan made sure to look directly at Nick, who was new to town and had shown a little more interest in Faith when he’d first arrived in town than Logan would have liked. “I always had faith,” he said, fully aware of the play on words.

“Nice.” Damon slapped him on the back. “Well, I guess congratulations are in order,” he said as they walked inside to rejoin Brody, who was currently drinking alone.

“Congratulations for what?” he asked as soon as they all sat down.

“For Logan and Faith.” Nick raised an eyebrow. “Apparently that article that was going around wasn’t fake news after all.”

Brody laughed. “I could have told you that. You can’t fake chemistry like that.”

If they only knew, was his first response. But then again, Brody did have a point. Youcouldn’tfake chemistry like that. At leasthecouldn’t. And he was pretty sure Faith couldn’t either, despite what she was trying to convince herself of.

ChapterFour

For Stephanie, being in Glacier Falls felt a little like being back in her hometown. Only the town she was raised in was even smaller, and definitely not as friendly. Or maybe that was just the way she was remembering it. Not that it mattered. She hadn’t been back home in years, and since her parents had largely distanced themselves from her, there was even less reason to go back. Especially because everyone she’d once considered a friend growing up now only cared about her fame and what she could do for them.

She pulled the curtains back from her hotel room window and looked down at Main Street below. All the people laughing and having fun together. A familiar sense of longing washed over her.

What would it be like to be normal? To have what they had?

As soon as the thoughts filled her head, she pushed them out again. The very idea that she might be ungrateful for what shedidhave was unthinkable. Shewasgrateful for her career. She loved acting. She loved traveling the world for her job, for seeing new things, for finally having enough money that she and her parents never had to worry about a thing.

If they’d just let her help them.

Yes.She had so much to be thankful for. And now, she had Dax. And a wedding to look forward to.

According to the media, it would be the wedding of the century.

That seemed a little extreme. And it gave everything a whole new level of pressure, which was exactly what a high-profile celebrity marriage didnotneed. It was hard enough living in the spotlight and having every little move you made examined and publicized for the whole world to see. Thankfully, Dax wasn’t like most of the men in Hollywood. He was down-to-earth and real and so completely in love with her. He made her feel safe, and despite their crazy schedules and the ridiculous amount of time they spent away from each other, Stephanie had never once worried that he’d been unfaithful. Maybe she was being naive. Lots of people said so. But…she trusted him. She had to.

Coming from the world of celebrity couples who were constantly cheating and falling in love with their latest costars, there wasn’t a lot of choice in the matter. You trusted or you went crazy.

She dropped the curtain and left the window. It was way too nice of a day to spend it inside watching the world go by. Besides, she had told Faith Turner the day before that she’d like to come back to the ranch for more of a visit. She’d really liked her first impressions of the tall blonde woman who seemed so sure of herself and her equally charming boyfriend, who clearly adored Faith. Their banter back and forth was super cute and they’d made her feel at ease right away.

There was almost something familiar about Faith. It was strange, but she’d felt as if she’d met her before, and that almost never happened to Stephanie. As a general rule, she kept people at arm’s length for a while before she let them in. Not that she’d let Faith in, but she would. She could tell. Faith felt like the kind of woman who could actually be a friend. Of course, she was also the wedding planner, and Stephanie had been burned by that type of relationship before.

“No bad energy,” she said to herself in the mirror by the door as she jammed a ball cap down on her red hair. “I attract what I put out. Only positive things flow to me.”
