Logan shrugged. She’d seemed far more down-to-earth than he’d expected her to be and without the entourage he’d expected, too. She really was just a normal person trying to find a nice location for her wedding. If anything, she seemed a bit lonely. And he told his mom so.

“Well, I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun with Faith showing thisStephaniearound town.”

Logan shook his head and speared a carrot with his fork.

“Not that I think spending all that time with Faith will be much of a hardship for you.” She winked and Logan could no longer ignore whatever it was she was insinuating.

“Mom.” He put his fork down and clasped his hands together over his plate. “I told you. It’s not like that. This whole thing is different than it was with Damon and Katie. We’re just—”

“Oh, I know what you’re doing,” she interrupted him. “And you may think it’s different, but—”

“Itis, Mom.”

“Okay.” She held her hands up in a mock surrender and smiled sweetly. “If you say so, dear.”

“I needed this. Thank you for joining me tonight.” Faith lifted her glass of wine in a quick toast to her girlfriends gathered around the table at Birchwood before taking a deep swallow of the crisp, cool liquid. “It’s been a crazy week.”

“And it’s only just begun,” Sarah Lewis added as she, too, drank from her glass. “I heard it’s been a little…well, what’s the word…”

“Busy,” Faith supplied for her. “It’s beenbusy.” There was no doubt that Sarah’s fiancé, Brody, who’d walked in on Logan kissing her the day before, had filled her in on all the details. And Faith wouldn’t be surprised if Nicole, Sarah’s sister-in-law, sitting next to her, also knew the details. Especially considering Nicole’s new wife, Amy, was Brody’s head chef.

There were times when Faith had to seriously question her decision in moving back to such a small town where everyone knew everyone and were just as involved in their personal lives.

“I didn’t hear howbusythings have been.” Across from her, Katie Banks, Logan’s little sister, raised an eyebrow. “But it sounds super juicy.”

Faith shook her head. The last thing she wanted to talk about with Katie was her big brother, and they were definitely going to need another bottle. “There’s nothing juicy about being busy.”

“Not unless it involves a certain celebrity,” Katie persisted.

“Oh!” Faith paused, her glass halfway to her mouth. “You were talking about Stephanie Starz juicy.”

Katie gave her a look. “What did you think I was talking about?”

“Nothing.” Faith quickly took another drink of her wine and picked up her menu. “We should order.” Her eyes lifted a little and locked directly on Sarah, who was watching her with a very knowing expression on her face.

Dammit.Brody had definitely filled her in on the kiss he’d caught them in.

A kiss that still sent thrills through her, despite the fact that she had every reason not to feel anything for Logan or his kisses.

Faith quickly looked away, but when Sarah cleared her voice—loudly—she turned back to her friend. “Yes?”

“I was just wondering if you were planning on filling us in on the rest of yourbusiness?”

All eyes turned to Faith. They hadn’t really decided on what to tell their friends about theirrelationshipas it was so publicly announced, and for the most part, there hadn’t been a need to say anything at all because most people just assumed the article that had appeared onWeddings Weeklywas a hilarious misunderstanding—which it was—and hadn’t bothered to push the issue. But now…

Faith sighed.

On one hand, she hated to lie to her friends. But, on the other hand, if one of them blew their cover with Stephanie Starz, it would all be for naught. Besides, Loganhadbet her she couldn’t do it. And she hated to back down from a bet. Especially one from Logan. She took a deep breath and gave her friends what they were looking for.

“Oh,” she said as casually as she could manage. “You must be talking about the fact that Logan and I are—”

“You’re together, aren’t you?” Katie all but jumped out of her chair with excitement. “I knew it. I knew that article wasn’t bullshit. I just knew it.”

Faith worked hard not to roll her eyes. Katie didn’t know anything, not really, but there was nothing to be gained by pointing it out. Particularly considering she’d just made the lying portion of things so much easier.

“I was waiting for you to say something,” Sarah jumped in. “But Brody did mention that he walked in on what looked like a pretty private moment yesterday.”

“I wouldn’t say it was private…”
