As stunning as Stephanie was, she had nothing on Faith. Petite redheads weren’t his type. But tall, curvy blondes? Now that was exactly the type of woman who got his heart racing. Especially when he had one arm wrapped around her, with his hand resting in what he hoped came off as a casual way on said blonde’s waist. He was more than happy to use every opportunity to touch Faith and hold her close. Especially considering he knew that because of the situation they were in she couldn’t react the way she had their entire life and push him away.
“So?” Faith asked Stephanie after they’d done a mini tour of the ranch. “Obviously we have so much more to show you, but what are your first impressions?”
Stephanie pressed her lips together and nodded to herself for a moment.
Next to him, Logan could feel Faith tense. He reached out and grabbed her hand. They both wanted Stephanie to love the ranch enough to hold her wedding there, of course. But although Faith wanted it for the benefit of the ranch and the business, his reasons were purely selfish. The wedding at Ever After would mean that he got to keep pretending to be the love of Faith’s life and maybe if they pretended enough, he might actually be able to convince her that he wasn’t, and had never had been, pretending.
Logan held his breath, but he didn’t have to wait long for Stephanie’s answer.
“Oh my God,” she gushed a moment later. Her hands clasped together, the giant diamond on her left hand flashing in the sunlight. “Your ranch is…” She waved her hands around dramatically, in what could only be described as a windmill action. “Perfect!” she finished. “It’s absolutely perfect! I don’t know if you know this, but I grew up in a small town in Northern Canada and I love the idea of cominghomefor such a special day. And not only is your ranch absolutely beautiful…” She turned to face them. “It’ssolucky,” she effused. “I mean, what are the odds that identical twins havebothfound their true loves right here at their very own wedding venue? It’s magical, is what it is, and I would be honored to be part of that magic, even in some small way.”
Faith pulled away from Logan and opened her arms to Stephanie, whom, up until about forty minutes earlier, had been a complete stranger. Not that it mattered. As was often the case when it came to women, Logan was left shaking his head when Stephanie Starz readily accepted the hug and the two embraced like long-lost friends.
He couldn’t help but grin because clearly, even without a contract signed, it looked as if Ever After would be hosting the wedding of the century between Stephanie Starz and Dax Combs, which meant he got to stay cuddled up with Faith a little bit longer.
“This is fantastic news.” He clapped his hands together. “Ever After is the perfect place for love, and I’m not just saying that because I’m biased.” Logan stepped forward and Stephanie welcomed him into an embrace as well.
“You two really are the sweetest couple,” she said. “I mean, obviously I was completely blown away by the article online when I saw the two of you together. That kind of chemistry is just so…” She waved her hands in the air. It was becoming very clear that Stephanie was a very passionate hand talker. “Powerful,” she finished. “You two are just so clearly in love with each other and for that to be so clearly depicted in a photo? I have to tell you how rare that is. And, if I’m being totally honest, I half expected to be disappointed when I met you both. I mean, you can’t possibly be that much in love, right?” She laughed.
Next to him, Faith giggled nervously, but he kept smiling.
“But you are!” Stephanie continued. “And I absolutely cannot wait to meet your sister and her new husband. You said they were coming home soon?”
“Yes. In two days, actually. It’s really too bad that they aren’t here for you to—”
“Oh good.” Stephanie cut her off. “Do you think I’ll get a chance to see them, too?”
“Well, I’m not sure how long you’re staying in town,” Faith said with a smile. “But I’m sure we can arrange something if the timing works out.”
Stephanie dipped her head for a moment before looking up again. “I know this is going to sound crazy.”
Logan highly doubted that there could possibly be any more crazy in this particular situation, but he didn’t say so.
“But now that I’m here, I kind of don’t want to leave.”
Faith chuckled a little. “Glacier Falls does have that effect on people, but I don’t understand. I was under the impression that you’d be here for a few days so we could show you around a bit more.”
“Oh yes,” Stephanie said quickly. “But now I’m thinking…well…you can tell me if this is crazy or not okay with you in any way, but I’d really like to stay for a bit longer than that. Just to get a feel for the place, you know? And be as involved as possible with you and planning the wedding. All the details, everything.”
“Everything?”
Logan looked between the two women with a grin on his face. They’d always planned on having the celeb around for a few days—that’s why he was able to convince Faith to let him move in—but for some indeterminate amount of time? That would change things—in all the right ways. And he couldn’t think of a better situation if it meant he got to get even closer to Faith for weeks, rather than just days. Faith, on the other hand…she didn’t look quite as pleased.
Logan watched while she clearly tried to think of an excuse that would be acceptable to her biggest client ever.
Coming up with nothing, she swallowed hard and smiled. “That would be fantastic.”
It was a bald-faced lie, but no one besides Logan knew it.
“The summer? Thewholesummer?”
Stephanie Starz had left only ten minutes earlier, leaving Faith and Logan alone in the barn where they held the receptions for their weddings. They were supposed to be getting set up for the upcoming event in a few days, but Faith couldn’t concentrate. Not when her newest, and biggest, client had just dropped a major bomb on her.
What the hell was she going to do with Hollywood’s biggest celebrity hanging around for the entire summer? Okay, maybe it wasn’t thewholesummer, but a few weeks in August. Might as well be. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Stephanie; she did. In fact, she’d been pleasantly surprised at how much she’d liked the woman. Not that Faith really knew what to expect considering she’d never met a famous person even close to the same level as Stephanie Starz. But whatever she’d been thinking, it definitely wasn’t that the petite redhead would be a genuinely nice person. Someone she would actually enjoy spending time with.
Which was good, because it looked as if they were going to spend a whole lot of it together.
“I think it will be good.” Logan wiggled his eyebrows. “And frankly, I think it’s going to be a whole lot of fun.”
