“Why not? I have nothing to hide,” I replied evenly.

“Is that so?” Theo challenged. “Then why haven’t you told Archer about Haven Benson?”

“What about her?” I countered.

“That’s where you were this morning when he called, right?”

My eyes widened in surprise as they snapped to meet his gaze. He wore a smug smirk on his face, and I resisted the urge to punch him for digging into my personal life. Although, I couldn’t blame him. I was sneaking around with the daughter of the kingpin of The Collectors and the sister of the brother who was literally trying to bring Archer down and steal his girl.

“I thought I told you to stop doing that nerd shit and tracking me,” I growled through gritted teeth.

“The only nerd shit I’ve been doing is what you asked me to do. Maddie was pissed off last night because you had bolted and left her, and the whole house had to listen to her bitch. I wasn’t sure if you were with Haven, but I guess you just confirmed that,” Theo shot back.

“You little shit,” I said, slapping him lightly on the stomach. He laughed and playfully defended himself from my assault.

“How do you deal with all this drama from multiple girls at once?” Theo asked with genuine curiosity in his tone.

“It’s a gift, I suppose,” I replied with a smirk.

“Yeah, I guess so.”

“So, is this girl one of your picks for The Hunt?” I changed the subject because every time I thought about Haven, my dick got hard. And there’s nothing more awkward than getting a boner next to your best friend.

“I don’t know. I haven’t asked her yet,” he responded evasively and then changed the subject. “You already have Maddie. Are you planning on asking Haven? Can you imagine what Archer would think if he knew you were boning Alexander Benson’s little sister?”

“Hey, shut the fuck up,” I growled, my hand clenching into a fist. “First of all, I’m not boning her. Second of all, I’m not sure what purpose she serves yet. All I know is she is good for information. If it weren’t for her, Alexander would have blindsided us at the quarry, all of us could be dead, and Mila could have been taken.”

“She was the one that gave you that anonymous tip?” Theo raised his eyebrow skeptically. “What does she gain from betraying her own brother? Because I’ve been digging into the Benson family. They kill first and ask questions later. So, why would she put her own life in danger for us?”

“You’ve been digging into their family?”

“Oh yeah. It’s like a fucking mafia soap opera. Once you go down the rabbit hole, you can’t stop waiting to see what’s next,” Theo chuckled, returning his focus to his phone.

“Anything about Haven?” I pressed.

“Not much.”

“Send it to me.”

“You sure? It’s pretty dark. Let’s just say, her life has not been rainbows and butterflies.”

“Send it.”

“You got it.” Theo quickly scrolled through his phone and typed a few words before a loud whooshing sound appeared. “It’s on its way to your secure email now.”

“Thanks,” I replied, pulling out my phone. I had only just clicked on the file when Archer opened the car door.

Cassian’s head bodyguard, Ozzie, greeted Archer with a big smile and a pat on the back.

“Oi, I haven’t seen you in a bit! You ready to knock some skulls together?” Ozzie boomed.

“Always.” Archer grinned.

“That’s my boy! Let’s get you to the house.” Ozzie settled into the passenger seat while Archer climbed in the back with us.

Thank God.

Cassian was sending us off to create chaos and carnage, my two favorite “c” words.
