“Quiet,” I said sternly, side-eyeing him with disgust.

“Jesus, that’s hot. You order me around like that, darlin’, and I’ll let you suck my cock. I bet you’d look real nice on your knees for me-”

“Be quiet!” Evers hissed at him as he led him to processing, and I went directly to the bathroom, locking myself in a cubicle, as I willed my hands to stop shaking. It was all anger. Definitely anger. I wasn’t intimidated by him, and I wasn’t attracted to him. It was the kind of impotent anger that had no outlet. In uniform, I had to be cool and calm, and behave accordingly, but boy, how I wanted to smack his smarmy asshole face.

By the time I was done with the paperwork, a new problem was getting in my face.

“You have no grounds to hold my client. This was harassment. Do we need to get a court order to keep you away from his club? Whatever feelings you might be harbouring for my client, it doesn’t give you the right to trespass, and antagonise him. No means no, after all.”

“Feelings? Ugh. Typical. I’m a female officer, so naturally my pussy is doing all my decision making. Listen here-”

“He’s lucky my partner isn’t the one taking out an order against him. This was physical assault, and she’s charging him.”

The smarmy lawyer grinned at us. “Well, far be it from me to keep you from putting your heads on the chopping block. Please feel free to proceed with this farce, and my client will be pressing harassment charges against both of you. I’m sure that’ll look good on your record at promotion time.”

He turned away from us, but he knew he’d just won this argument, because the promotion track was my priority, at least for now.

“Fine. How about if we let him go with a caution?”

“Jamie, seriously? I just processed him, and you’ve filled in the paperwork.”

The lawyer turned and smirked at us. “Nothing that can’t be undone. You’re doing the right thing by being so reasonable. I’ll retrieve my client, and be on my way.”

“Dammit!” I turned to follow him, and he hesitated.

“Perhaps it’d be best if your partner did the honours. I wouldn’t want you getting all unnecessary around my client. He’s had a rough time already today, because of you.”

Oh my god.How can he look me in the eye and spout this utter bullshit? The greasy motherfucker hasn’t suffered! He’d barely even stopped smirking this whole time. He knew he was pushing my buttons, and he knew this slimy asshole would get him out of it.

“Evers, I’ll sort the paperwork, if you can assist this ‘gentleman’ with his ‘client’.”

Son of a motherfucker. I stewed about Grease, and his stupid club, all through the rest of my shift, and even at home. There had to be a way to knock him off his high horse, and expose his secrets, and I’d find it.

Chapter Three

TESIO / GREASE

Mafia lawyers were the best, and with the collaboration between Don Rossi and Phoenix MC, they were getting way more help than they expected, but he was always going to be sent for me, because I’m mafia, right?

“My advice would be to steer clear of her, so she doesn’t find more ‘reasons’ to arrest you, Tesio.”

We were in a Lexus on the way back to the clubhouse, and I was enjoying the luxury of it, instead of a fucking van with no real seating. Why do bikers feel that if they’re stuck on four wheels, it has to punish everyone?

“I’ll stay away if she does. She keeps fucking with me, and the club, and I’ll retaliate. That’s how it works, you remember how it works, right?”

Lawson rolled his eyes, and sat back, ignoring the fact that a driver could hear us, because we’re all mafia here, right?

“She’s got a hard-on for you, Tes, and that’s a problem. Bad enough she’s snooping around the clubhouse, but if she figures out who you really are, rather than the fake fucking persona we put out there, then that brings this shit to Rossi. You know how he hates outside interference.”

I fell silent, knowing that if Rossi got involved, she’d be six feet under somewhere, before I could even pretend to hit on her again.

“I’ll behave if she does. I can’t offer more than that. If she turns up again, I’ll-”

“You’ll call me, and we’ll file against her for harassment.”

“Where’s the fun in that? I’d rather play with her some more.”

“Like a cat with a mouse. If you keep getting arrested, you just might find that Don Rossi recalls you, to keep you under control. Is that really what you want?” Fuck me. Just once, I’d like to not be reminded that I’m only a temporary biker.
