Chapter Seventeen

Stephan

Last night had been fun but I was regrettingit this morning. The university said they were sending someone overto show us around. They were eager to have the Silverman kids atthe university. They knew they’d get money if we chose it.

The alarm had gone off and I’d dozed back tosleep. Jade had gotten up, showered and ready. She was now in theroom shaking me. “Stephan, you’re late. I’m going to go down withDerick, Owen, and Royce to meet who the university brought aroundand we’ll talk to him and have breakfast, well brunch while we waitfor you.”

Groaning, I rolled over and grabbed Jade,pressing my morning boner against her. “How about Derick and Owengo down and keep the guy company while you help wake me up.”

Jade whacked my chest. “Stephan, don’t tease.We can’t be rude.” She glided off me and I reluctantly let her go.“I’ll see you downstairs.”

“Sure.”

Jade left and I got up, did my morningbusiness, got dressed and felt refreshed and ready for the day. Iwas looking forward to seeing Griffith University, and Zeck hadgiven me and Brand a couple of great real estate agents. I knewBrand was out today starting the search.

Going down to the lobby, I went into therestaurant and saw Derick and Jade with two guys in their twenties.They were all chatting happily. I told the maître d I was the lastSilverman to join the table at the back.

“Hey, Sis, look who finally decided to joinus.” Derick winked at Jade.

Glancing down at my watch I saw I was almostan hour late.Whoops. Coming to the table I kissed Jade’sforehead and went to sit when everyone stood.

“Stephan, this is Ben.” Derick pointed to theblond. “And the other guy is Mathew.”

“Hi.” I held out my hand and they each shookit.

“Now we’ve been introduced we can go,” Dericksaid.

I followed them out of the restaurant and tothe front of the hotel. Owen had the BMW and we climbed in, whilethe two guys from the university got into their new white CommodoreHolden

“Ben has been telling me all about theuniversity. He said all the courses I’m interested in are in thesame block as the social media. He’s doing communications and inhis last year of his masters.”

I tuned Jade out as she talked on and onmentioning this Ben guy over and over. Had I only been an hourlate? I listened in and out as she gushed about everything Ben hadtold her. The twenty-minute ride made me wonder what the hell wasgoing on. I felt like I missed something.

We got out of the car and Jade was bouncingwith excitement.

“Isn’t it great? It’s clean, well maintained,and really big.”

We’d taken a detour and drove around thecampus before stopping at the most central area.

Smiling at her enthusiasm, I tried to steal akiss when Ben and Mathew came between us.
