“I landed a paid internship,” Nichole shares excitedly.“I’m going to Los Angeles in spring to work for a fashion brand.”

“That’s fucking awesome.” Scarlett high-fives her.“Congrats, friend.”

“Yeah, congrats.” I close the book I’m reading. “Ishould start searching for internships, too.”

“Not spring, though,” Scarlett implores. “We’regoing to the Bahamas for spring break. A gift from my dad.”

“The Bahamas?” Logan echoes, easing up from herlap. “You’re taking me with you. Aren’t you, babe?”

Scarlett sucks her teeth. “It’s a trip for my bestfriend and me. No boys.”

He groans. “Fine. Anyway, I have to get to class.”He grabs his backpack and gives her a sweet kiss before straightening from thegrass.

“Zumba on Saturday?” Nichole confirms whilegathering her things.

“Sure,” Scarlett chirps. “I loved it. Thanks forconvincing us.”

“Us?” I mumble.

Nichole clicks her tongue and pushes to fullheight. “It’s not that bad. It’s great for your body.”

“All right. I’ll give it another go.”

“Cool. Catch you two later.”

Scarlett waves.

“See you, Nichole,” I say with a smile.

She veers down the path, drawing looks from theguys she passes with her voluptuous curves in the skinny jeans.

Scarlett refocuses on me. “So, how are thingsgoing with Caleb?”

“Interesting.” I drop my eyes and pick at thegrass.

“What’s up?”

“Um…I had another flashback of Caleb.”

I look up to see her reaction.

She pinches her brows together. “Isn’t that a goodthing?”

“Yeah, except it proved that I’m not Dove. She wasthere in my memory. I spoke to her.”

Scarlett frowns. “Are you going to tell Caleb?”

“I’m afraid.” My shoulders droop at the thought.

Sympathy curtains her face. “JD, you have to behonest with him. Besides, you both have been getting so close. I doubt he’llbreak things off with you.”

“I keep remembering what he told me about hisprevious relationships. He said he couldn’t stop searching for Dove, and that’swhy things ended. I’m afraid the same thing will happen if he knows I’m nother.”

Her green eyes glisten with understanding. Shereaches over to give my shoulder a gentle squeeze.

“Look at my best friend,” she murmurs. “You’re inlove.”

I gasp. “I’m…”
