“Not yet,” I say. “I want Lia to have a look.”

He chuckles evilly.“You just want to see her do the thing again.”

“I mean, yeah,”I say, scratching my jaw.“I still think I imagined it.”

“Wishful thinking, more likely.”

I’m not convinced of anything at this stage. But I have to admit: add everything about Aurelia together and it’s suspicious.

We enter the lecture hall and my eyes find our regina instantly because her group is the first here. Her breasts are nothing but the sweetest, softest, mouth-watering mounds over the red crop top and I salivate instantly. Pavlov’s dog, eat your heart out. I’m so aroused that I almost miss Scythe heading up the wooden stairs towards her.

Xander chuckles because Raquel sees Scythe’s glazed eyes and shouts, leaping off their seat.

We take our cue and I take a running jump right onto Scythe’s back. He roars and I bellow dramatically back, punching him right in the head.

But my brother’s head is made of titanium because he doesn’t blink and proceeds to fall backwards to body slam me to the floor. His mating mark is blazing and I get to say a little, “oh fuck” as I realise that this is not an ordinary prey drive, but a shark’smatedrive, which is supposed to be a thousand times worse according to Scythe himself.

“Xander?” I choke out. He’s actually managed to wind me. “Now might be a good time to get in here!” Scythe turns around and throws a fist at my jaw. I see stars as it lands.

“You look like you’re handling it, Sav,” Xander says casually.

“Fuck you!” I shout, and then say,“Look at his mating mark.”

“I can’t see it, you fuckwit,”Oh, good point.“But he smells different.”

Xander falls heavily on top of Scythe, body slamming the both of us, and I’m wheezing instantly. There’s only one solution to this problem and we both know it.

With his magic out of action, it’s just pure blood and violence as Xander punches Scythe on the head from the back and I go at him from the front. We then grapple to get into a better position so Xander can get behind him to choke him out.

“We have an audience,” Xander mutters as he rolls Scythe on top of himself and elbow chokes him from behind, while I hold his arms down. There’s a purely rabid struggle for minutes on end because Scythe can go ages without oxygen, but without his magic, thankfully, he eventually goes limp and I get to jump up.

I look around the room and see the animas all on their feet, staring down at us from their wooden lecture seats with horrified faces. Minnie has a pink water bottle beside her. “Minnie mouse, sweetie-pie,” I coo. “If you toss me that water bottle, I’ll forgive you for attacking me.”

The tiger cub gapes at me in the cutest kitty cat way, and Aurelia crosses her arms. “Fuck you, Savage. I’m still waiting formyapology.”

“Mother Wolf, you’re gorgeous when you’re angry.” And I do mean it because her cheeks are flushed, her skin is glowing, and I get to see all of that delicious thigh that’s begging for my tongue to lick it up and up and up… Then I remember that everyone else can see her thighs and I turn around angrily at the crowd waiting to enter the lecture hall behind the Forklift Brothers.

“Water!” I snap.

Someone tosses me a plastic water bottle and I snatch it out of the air and open it. I dump it all over Scythe’s face and he wakes up with a gasp.

“Shit,” he splutters. “Did I—”

“Yeah, brother,”I say as Xander saunters up the stairs to choose our seats.“Full on mate drive.”

“Why didn’t you get me earlier?”he says irritably, getting to his feet. The water makes his silver hair glow even more under the downlights. He fits right into this medieval-looking hall.

I glance at Aurelia and he knows right away why.“Asshole,”he mutters.“But good job.”

That’s my brother, always giving credit where credit is due. I take a valiant bow in front of the audience and the wolves obediently clap for their king.

We take our seats up high, where we get a good view of Aurelia and the Forklift Brothers allow everyone else to file in. Lyle Pardalia brings up the rear. I watch as his nostrils flare. His eyes immediately flick down to where Scythe’s blood spots the carpet. The corner of his mouth presses in annoyance before flicking to Aurelia and then right to Scythe, whose black eye is starting to form. It’ll be gone in a day, but it’s still evidence of the altercation.

It’s going to look real pretty in about thirty seconds.

“Welcome to today’s session,” Lyle booms from the lectern. “Living with marine beasts is a new course we’re able to start this year, courtesy of one of our students, Scythe Kharkorous.”

Everyone shifts in their seats with interest, and lo-and-behold, the only person with balls big enough to actually look at Scythe is our regina.
