Oh shit, heisserious.
As much as I hate this, I can’t let this guy die because of me. That’ll be the second hyena in just as many months and I can’t have that blood on my hands.
“Bye!” I say to the still-chatting hyena, physically grabbing his shoulders, turning him around and shoving him away. His friends hoot with laughter as he returns to his table, head hanging in dismay.
“Good girl,” Savage says.“But you’ve touched him. Now Xander is going to have to cauterise his skin for us.”
“No,” I breathe out loud.
The girls standing around me are looking between my mates and me, bewildered. Minnie’s hand flies to her mouth.
But Savage nods slowly, once, then picks up his steak and continues to eat. Scythe, however, remains staring at me.
“Fuck, that’s scary,” Sabrina mutters.
Connor prods at her shoulder, “Let’s get the fuck outta here, animas.”
“Say no more.” Raquel grabs Minnie’s and Stacey’s arms and hauls our friends out along with the others. I hurry after them, feeling eyes on us as we leave. There are a few snide mutters made in our wake, but I can’t even hear them because Savage’s dark voice is still ringing in my brain.
Chapter38
Savage
What the fuck. What the fuck. No. Yes. I mean, no? My regina is a goddess and I want to cover her body and shove my cock so deep into her that she screams my name. I want to pull her into my lap and bite on her neck hard enough to leave a permanent mark so everyone in this fucking school knows she’s mine.
“Calm down,” Xander says irritably through our bond.“Someone tell me what the fuck happened.”
I don’t—can’tsay anything because I’m too busy obsessing over Aurelia’s ass as she flees the hall.
Shoving down my instinct to chase, I flash Xander a mental image of our regina’s outfit. His fork pauses on the way to his mouth and he makes a surprised noise.
“She looks amazing,”I say.
“Lyle really should have shackled you.”Xander says, ignoring me.“And Scythe is in shark mode, He hasn’t taken a breath for two minutes now.”
Wolves and birds usually get free passes with magic dampeners because we can’t attack with our gifts. Xander resumes shovelling his bacon into his mouth in the most gentlemanly way possible as I turn my attention to my brother. Scythe is staring at the dining hall door even though there’s no one there. And, fuck, he’s still not breathing.
“Brother. The blue fairy has left the chat.”
But Scythe says nothing. He’s preternaturally smooth as he gets to his feet and I know his prey drive is activated.
“Oh, fuck,” I mutter out loud, getting up to follow him.
Scythe’s prey drive is worse than mine. Worse than anyone I’ve ever met, actually, includingin Blackwater.
“What is it?” Yeti says, alert for anything. The wolves shift uncomfortably.
I nod to indicate Scythe, who’s walking, his head lowered, shoulders a little hunched, stalkingafter Lia. Tracking her. Yeti’s face pales.
The males in the tables around us all freeze as they recognise what this is.
“We’ll handle it,” Xander sighs, following me.“It’s because of the giant red flag she’s wearing.”
Scythe is already out the door, so we jog to catch up. “Ah, fuck itisthe red,” I smirk at him. I’m ready for a fight and missed out just moments ago when Lia saved that hyena’s life, so I’m pumped and ready to handle Scythe.
The girls are nowhere to be seen in the corridor, but we know we’re due for a nine a.m. class on, well, wouldn’t you know, interacting with marine beasts. Though her scent is not in the air, as usual, Scythe is following Lia’s blood itself and I signal to the Forklift Brothers to follow, just in case. Hell, we might actually need the help this time.
“Ready?” Xander asks, his voice an octave lower as, even with the shackles on, his dragon comes out a little.
