Tate arched his eyebrows. Why was Rogan acting like he was jealous? It wasn’t as if Rogan would ever fill that role—even if Tate was sure he’d be great at it.

“It’s only for now.” Tate searched the files of his mind to uncover something to reassure Rogan that he didn’t want their scheduled talks to stop. “It’s totally a stand-in Daddy situation. He already has his own two boys, so he’s really busy. And…” There had to be more he could say. “And he’ll never understand what it was truly like with Cam. I can’t really talk to him about that stuff.”

Rogan’s shoulders relaxed and his features softened. “As long as he’s helping you, that’s all that—” Rogan froze with his mouth open, then blinked his eyes several times. “Wait. Did you say boys?”

“Uh, yeah.”

Tate needed to learn to quit blurting and to remind himself what a newbie Rogan was when it came to the lifestyle.

“Like a menage?”

“We usually say it’s a poly relationship, but yeah. And it’s not just a sex thing,” he hastened to add.” A lot of people don’t get that. It’s a true, committed relationship like any other. Except for the part where there’s more than two people, I mean.”

“Huh.” Rogan nodded then shrugged his shoulders. “As long as that’s what makes them happy, it’s no one else’s business how they live their lives.”

Tate broke into a relieved smile. “That’s how I feel about all aspects of the lifestyle.”

Rogan’s smile made a reappearance. “So, this Master…?”

“Zane.”

“Right. Master Zane. You were saying he’s very busy because he’s in a relationship with two boys? That he doesn’t have a lot of time, but is nice enough to help you out?” Rogan swiped the back of his hand across his forehead. “For now?”

“For now. That’s it.”

Rogan let out a sigh then went back to staring at the ocean. “You know what I think?”

Tate shook his head, still worried that Rogan might find the check-in too strange to understand.

“No, what?”

“I think we should go put our feet in the water.” Rogan turned to Tate. “Then, after we’ve walked around a bit, we might have worked off enough of our food that we can ride the carousel.”

Tate wasn’t sure what inspired the abrupt change in topic, but was relieved at how accepting Rogan seemed. His mind latched on to Rogan’s comments about the carousel.

“Do you think so?”

Rogan winked. “I’m sure of it.” He rose then jerked his head in the direction of the beach. “Come on.”

Tate grinned then jumped up from the bench. As he followed Rogan, he mused how wonderful it would be to come back to this same beach someday. But only if he they were together.
