The corruption is deep in this town. Not just the police, who are a large part of it, but it extends through the local judicial and legal system.
Whatever they want, they get.
Untilnow.I’m fucking up their plans, gathering evidence to expose them for the corrupt pieces of shit they are before I killthem. I know it won’t matter. Justice will never be served in the traditional way because there’s too much corruption at the top. But I want them to know that I’m aware of the truth before I kill them.
Throwing his body over my shoulder, I carry him outside to a spot deep in the woods. Then I dump gasoline all over it before lighting him on fire.
The flames keep me warm as I pull out my phone and press the button. Jason’s tired voice answers, thick with sleep.
“Hey, asshole. Wake up. I have something you can do.” I grin, picturing his irritated scowl.
He mutters some curses and I hear his bed creek. “Motherfucker, it’s 3:00 a.m. Why the fuck are you calling me so late?”
“I just took out the mayor of Falls Creek. I’m barbequing his corrupt ass right now.”
Jason sounds far more alert as he says, “No shit. Really?”
“Yup. Hold on.” I snap a picture of the bonfire, then send him the pics I’d taken of him tied up, then various pics of him after he’d been bloody, swollen and bruised from the torture I inflicted on him, and finally the bonfire. “I just sent you pics.”
I know exactly when he sees them by the long whistle that comes from him. “Damn, brother. You fucked him up.”
A grin curls up my lips as I watch him burn. “I lost my shit when he gleefully smiled and told me all the ways he’d been beating his two daughters and his wife. Sick motherfucker.”
Jason laughs. “Obviously, he’s an arrogant simpleton who had no idea who he was dealing with.” I hear the flick of his lighter, then the sound of him inhaling his cigarette before he says, “What do I need to do?”
“Clean up.” My smile is huge and I can barely contain my laughter.
“Asshole, you woke me up for that? Why the hell can’t it wait until morning?”
I give a shrug, though he can’t see me. “I figured the mess would be harder to get out if you wait.”
“Jackass, I hate you.”
I bark out a laugh. “No, you don’t.”
He chuckles. “I wish I did.” Heaving out a long sigh, he says, “Fine, asshole. I’ll be there in ten.”
“See you then.” I hang up, pulling out my cigarettes. Lighting one up, I take a long drag, staring into the fire.
Only, it isn’t the mayor I see or any of the other corrupt jackasses in this town.
It’sher.
She’s all I can see as the events of the day play out. I imagine her naked, biting her lip as she stares at me with desire burning in her honey eyes.God, the pleasure I would give her. I’m a fast learner and I’d pay attention to every expression, whimper, moan, and movement of her body to figure out what she likes. I’d give her exactly what she wants, teasing her mercilessly, dragging out her orgasms, until I’m buried balls deep inside of her. I’d make her scream my name as I pounded into her, fucking her so good she’d forget that worthless jackass existed.
I’d ruin her for any other man.
I’m sitting in my truck, across the street from the bookstore, waiting for her to get off work. My brows furrow as her boss and husband step out the door, then hurry to their car.Maddie must have decided to work until close.
My thoughts spin, ideas forming inside my head. Maddie will be alone. Should I capitalize and make my move?
My phone rings and I reach over, picking it up, not bothering to look at the screen as I bark out, “What?”
“You’re in a good mood,” Jason says sarcastically. “I have that intel you wanted. And it looks like you may be able to capitalize on it soon.”
My eyes drop to the ground, my posture changing as adrenaline pumps through me.This is what I’m good at. Taking out these corrupt bastards, one by one.
“Where can I meet you?”
