“Come on, Grace. Use that brain your daddy gifted you with.”

Agent Rickman. He betrayed me.

“That’s right. We’ve got eyes and ears everywhere.”

We? “I don’t think you should refer to this group as people you’re affiliated with. They’ll probably shoot you once you drop me off.”

He shoved a palm into my back. “Move, you little bitch. Stop talking.”

I kept walking, taking as long as possible since I knew that would give Hunter time to find me. “Funny. What did they promise you? A private jet? An offshore bank account?” I snorted. “You’ll never live long enough to receive any of it.”

The doctor grabbed my hair and shoved me into the wall. My face slammed into it, and I tasted blood. “Learn to shut your mouth, or I’ll stuff it with my cock.”

Wow. How was this man allowed to practice medicine?

“I don’t think you have time for that,” I reminded him, betting on the fact that he needed to keep me coherent enough to leave the building and parking lot without causing suspicion.

Dr. Clark shrugged off his white lab coat and tossed it on the ground. Underneath, he wore a plain brown jacket and street clothes. He’d blend in when we left.

That wasn’t good. I hoped he would forget and make it obvious that he was doing something wrong. Like kidnapping.

“Let’s go,” he snarled, tugging me down the stairs at an alarming pace.

I twisted my ankle on the stairs, and he didn’t care, laughing when I winced from the pain. When we reached the door that led to the lobby, he stuffed his gun inside his coat but kept it pointing at my back.

“Go. I’m right behind you. Try to speak to anyone, and I’ll shoot them. I’ve got no patience left.”

I believed him. He didn’t care what people saw or thought now. He was too close to the prize, which meant I needed to follow his instructions before I became too injured to escape later. With a nod, I obeyed him, pushing open the glass doors as we left the building.

No one noticed us walking out. They didn’t care. Too focused on their own lives and problems, they never thought to question why we left together. Of course, he removed his white coat, and at a glance, he looked like a patient, not one of the staff members.

I watched a dark blue van pull up and stop a few feet from us in the parking lot. The side door opened, and I caught the evil grin tossed my way.

“Hey, little cherry.”

Tony Collins. Fuck!

I tried to run, and he hopped out, easily tackling me to the ground. He laughed as I smacked my head on the concrete, licking the side of my face with his tongue.

“You taste like sweet surrender. I wonder if your pussy feels like it too.”

Disgusted, I almost threw up on him.

He hauled me to my feet, picked me up, and tossed me inside the van. I landed on the hard surface and rolled, scrambling away from him as he joined me. The door shut with an ominous click as I willed myself to remain calm.

The only way to survive was to ensure I didn’t lose my shit.

Hunter was coming. He would find me. I just had to survive until then. With any luck, he’d contact my father, and I’d have the whole state of Nevada looking for me. It wouldn’t take long before I got rescued.

“Do you want to know what your father said before I shot him?”

Startled, I blinked as I looked into Tony’s eyes. They were black. A void where a human soul should be. He was evil through and through. I knew this. I helped to assemble his profile.

But I didn’t believe he killed my dad. It was a scare tactic.

Agent Rickman told me I’d done a terrific job—the bastard.

Tony dialed a number on his cell, and I heard the line pick up.
