“Shut up,” I mutter, and Liam laughs. “Why isn’t Connie here?”

Dropping his smoke to the path, Liam toes it out and blows the smoke up into the air above his head before responding. “The fucker is too drunk. I promised him I’d handle it.”

“I appreciate it.” I smirk, knowing Liam is saving my arse.

“You owe me, man.” He points at me as Finn approaches.

“Dom said a call was made from Jaxcen’s phone to the number registered to Presley Summers. He also said Jaxcen’s phone location is here, but Presley’s left a while ago and is travelling north towards the border.”

“I have a bad fucking feeling,” I mutter before turning back to my cousin. “You have the master key?”

“Yep. Got it here.” He holds it up and gestures to the front doors of the building. “Let’s check things out.”

Following my cousin, he opens the doors and takes us up to the fourteenth floor, leading us to the apartment that Jaxcen’s phone is located in. When Liam raises his hand to knock, I snatch the key off him and put it in the lock, not wanting to bother with pleasantries.

If Jaxcen is inside then no one is stepping in my way.

I throw the door open, and it bangs against the wall, my eyes darting up the narrow passage that opens into a living area.

“You back so soon, Eddie?” a male voice calls, and my spine fucking stiffens at hearing that fucking name.

Eddie.

It takes me six long strides to get to the mouth of the room, my gaze quickly taking in the space, only to find it occupied by one man.

“Who the hell are you?” he snaps, but I ignore him, pointing to the other passage off the room, and Finn darts past me, gun raised as he heads in that direction to check it out.

On the kitchen counter, is a phone, and I recognise the rose gold trim.

It’s Jaxcen’s.

And right next to the phone are the keys to the Corvette.

“Keys are on the bench,” I mutter over my shoulder, and Liam steps around me to scoop them up.

“What the hell are you doing?” the older man asks, and as I scan the space, I see a few pictures on the walls, one of which has Jaxcen in it, as well as this man.

“Mr Summers, I presume?” I ask, and he frowns.

“Who wants to know?”

“Where’s Jaxcen?” I ignore his questions and he frowns.

“How do you know Jaxcen?”

“I’m asking the fucking questions!” I yell, curling my lip and wanting to punch something.

“The fuck you are!” he yells back and I grit my teeth.

“The place is empty.” Finn’s voice comes from behind me as he approaches.

“Grab her phone from the bench.” I gesture my head in that direction, not taking my eyes off the man cornered in the living room.

“Hey! Leave that alone. That doesn’t belong to you,” Mr Summers snaps, and I smirk, tilting my head to the side to study the slightly overweight man.

“It doesn’t belong to you either.” I point out. “Where is Jaxcen?”

“Not here.” He glares at me, and my lips thin.
