I felt hot and strange inside, like I wanted to attack him. I hadn’t had those urges since the change was completed.
I rose to my feet, “I need to go.”
He followed suit, and several of his guards stood at attention.
In seconds, Brendon and Ace were by my side, flanking me and supporting me. I felt the air enter my lungs and realized I had been holding my breath.
I could tell that Cian wasn’t finished with me. His eyes were intent, and I saw his fingers twitch. Brendon put a hand on my arm, it felt possessive, and I wondered if he knew the implications of his move.
Cian smiled suddenly, the tension broke and his eyes sparkled with humor.
“We shall continue our discussion in my chambers this evening, Viv.”
I nodded, too afraid to do anything else.
Cian turned, and we were dismissed. In a move that was clearly supernaturally fast, Brendon and Ace had me moving toward the door.
“What in the fuck happened?” Brendon hissed angrily.
I didn’t know what had happened. It was as if all I could say to him was the truth. What spell had the king woven over me? And why was I now attracted to yet another man? Is that how things were with the vampires?
“She’s shaking!” Ace muttered and swept me up in his arms.
