I smacked her butt again grinning at Maria and Heath.
“Will she really bite you?” Heath asked, with a hint of trepidation.
I felt her teeth sink in and I swatted her ass harder. “We call it foreplay.”
I walked over to the seat where she would be buckled in for takeoff and gently set her in it. Sarah’s face was red, and her eyes were blazing. Without another thought, I leaned forward and kissed her. It was just as I suspected, she was aroused as hell. Sarah grabbed my uniform and yanked me closer to her mouth.
I heard Heath mumble something like, “Lucky man.”
I damn well knew it too.
When she broke the kiss, Sarah bit my bottom lip with a growl. “I let you get away with that.”
A wide smile broke across my face. “I know.”
Zack came in next and ordered us all to prepare for takeoff. It wasn’t long before the countdown had begun, and we were blasting off once again, only this time we would be going directly into the lion’s mouth.
With the smaller ship came the capacity to travel at higher speeds. This was necessary because there weren’t sleeping pods or a dining unit on this craft. We would be in flight for a little over forty-eight hours, during which time your seat did recline a little but not much.
There were two things that I learned during this trip. One, that Heath snored fucking loud and I was worried Sarah might kill him. My girl needs her rest. And two, that Zack talks in his sleep. He talked about all kinds of stupid shit like yelling about his place in line or asking for more meatballs.
Yeah, we are never going to let him live that one down.
Once we entered the orbit of Seron we were addressed by the landing crew, who treated us with the utmost respect. The landing was fairly uneventful and soon we were back on land again. Sarah looked around with wonder as she took in Seron for the first time. The planet was a warm one with little vegetation. The sands were a dusky pink to deep red, and it held its own kind of beauty. In the sky, one could still see the twin moons that hadn’t quite faded with the sun’s rays.
“What do you think?” I whispered in her ear, wrapping an arm around her waist.
“It’s beautiful, but how do they grow things here?”
I pointed to the glass buildings in the distance, “Greenhouses, there are thousands of them on the planet. The people live in abject poverty and work in the greenhouses.”
“Where is their water supply?” she asked, taking my hand without realizing it.
My heart squeezed at the way she trusted me. “They do have rainfall, it isn’t much, but they are able to harness it quite well and keep it under the surface.”
She nodded, but I could tell her mind was still working on the how’s and why’s.
“We welcome you.” A woman of middle age approached us. “I am Sabine, and I am The Commander of Seron.”
We greeted her with affability and followed Sabine into one of the buildings near their landing space. The feeling that Sabine was giving off seemed tainted almost. I wasn’t sure if she was trying to intimidate us or if that was my senses giving me a clue.
It was immediately cooler inside of the building. The rooms were well appointed and lavishly dressed. The Seronians that saw their leader all bowed their heads in respect for Sabine. She led us into a conference room and then clicked on a remote much like the one I had used in the Omega Quadrant.
I watched as the light coated the room, causing complete silence as we were sealed in.
“Now,” Sabine leaned forward, “I can be frank with you.”
She shimmered and, in her place, stood a girl on the cusp of womanhood.
“My name is Kat; my mother Sabine has taken ill. I think someone is trying to kill her.”
