It could be a false alarm, but still.

When nothing happens, I throw the cup of ice at the doors.

Then I read the sign that says that the elevators will automatically shut off when the fire alarm is set off for safety reasons.

“You have got to be fucking kidding me!” I roar.

Abandoning the elevator, I head towards the stairs.

People are pouring out of it in waves. “Move!” I shout as I push people aside the best I can.

But there are too many people, all running out in a panic.

They push me back and out of the way.

I need to get to Lilly, they need to fucking move.

“Everyone out!” a man shouts. “This way, please.” Firefighters make their way over to the rush of people.

Ignoring them, I continue to push my way through the crowd until an arm grabs me.

“What are you doing?” a firefighter asks.

“I have to get up the stairs.”

“Whatever it is, it can wait. Exit the building, please.”

“No. You don’t understand!” I shout. “My girlfriend is up there.”

“Are you sure?” he asks. “She could have left with the rush of people.”

“I’m sure,” I say through clenched teeth. This fucker better let me go before I end up punching him in the face and spending my night in jail.

“What room is she? We’ll check and make sure she gets out okay.”

What the fuck do I do now? Tell him the room and let them find her naked, tied to the bed?

Fuck no.

“Just let me go get her. I’ll be quick. We’re only a few floors up.”

“I’m sorry I can't do that.”

“Fuck!” I shout, struggling to get out of his hold.

“Bishop!?” Toby’s voice has me spinning around. The firefighter lets me go, heading up the stairs. “What the fuck is going on?” he asks, looking around. “Where’s Lilly.”

“That's the problem,” I say. “I fucked up. I fucked up big time.”

“What happened!” he shouts, eyes blaring with a mix of panic and anger.

“We need to get upstairs. Now,” I repeat. “But they won’t let me up.”

“Why? Where is she?”

“Naked and tied to my fucking bed,” I hiss.

His eyes widen. “You stupid idiot,” he growls, and then he’s pushing past me.
