Eden needed to be left completely alone.
Chapter Thirteen
Confirmed
Eden did something she hadn’t done in a really long time. She took personal time off of work. She stacked her normal days off against some earned personal time, giving her a grand total of fourteen beautiful days without work.
That meant staying up late, sleeping in, and having not a single care in the world. Zero responsibility in life. If she needed something to eat, she had her phone. The beauty of ordering a pizza or an entire order of groceries.
She even considered maybe getting away for a night or two. She found a cute, little cabin tucked away in the mountains and woods. Hidden from the world. The perfect kind of place to completely decompress from life. The kind of place that—
Eden’s phone buzzed with a notification. When she looked down and saw the wordsBOOKING CONFIRMEDshe let out a gasp.
She had been drinking coffee way too late in the morning and afternoon, finally switching to water and now diet soda. Her head still had a very faint ache. A reminder of her personal celebration the night before when she finished her last shift. A celebration that for some reason included whiskey.
Why whiskey? Really? Why would I do that?
All valid questions Eden asked herself, avoiding the obvious answer. Now came more evidence as to why she and whiskey weren’t exactly going to end up as best friends.
She remembered thinking about getting away. She remembered looking at thatcute little cabin, tucked away in the mountains and woods. What she didn’t remember doing—at least not until right now—was actually booking the cabin for a night.
“What?” Eden cried out. “What did I do?”
She hurried to open the email only to discover she did sign up for a stay at the cabin. With no option for a refund because she was literally supposed to be arriving to said cabin in just hours.
Eden closed her eyes, sighed, and swore to the heavens she would never touch whiskey again. The only choice here was to either ignore the email, pay the credit card charge, and laugh it off… Or she could text Liv and Sophia, tell them to pack their bags, they were going into the woods for a night.
Outside her apartment she heard the sudden roar of motorcycle engines starting. That initial snarling sound followed by the intimidating growl. By the time Eden hurried to the window to see what was happening, the two motorcycles were on the move. Drix and Dolph turned the corner and were gone. The howling engines echoing off into the distance.
Eden knew that the two bikers were not near her twenty-four-seven. It was impossible. They had to eat, use the bathroom, get drunk, fuck the mostly naked women who hung around the SOFRAW clubhouse.
It shouldn’t have mattered that they were gone. Something in Eden just didn’t feel right. It didn’t sit well. She blamed the whiskey. The fact that she rented a cabin while drunk.
Eden turned away from the window, went into her bedroom and to the bathroom. She decided on another hot shower. Scaldthe hangover out of her brain for good. Then decide what to do later.
The shower felt good. A second shower in the same day. Something unheard of for Eden. She also never took days off. In fact, she usually picked up at least one extra shift, sometimes more, every week. Her life revolved around work. She used to feel safe at work.
Used to.
That thought made her touch her forehead. She shivered. Fear tickled throughout her body. She closed her eyes to simply take a deep breath, but when she did, she pictured Priest.
She pictured Priest standing behind that woman, fucking her. The insanelywell-endowedsize of his dick, thrusting in and out of that woman.
Eden bit her bottom lip. Ever since that moment, she had been battling crazy thoughts and fantasies.
Why didn’t I keep watching? Why didn’t I touch myself? Why didn’t I join in?
Eden opened her eyes.
“No,” she whispered.
It was one thing to fantasize a little. But to think about joining in? Joining in on what? Bend over and wait for Priest to fuck her? To go back and forth between herself and the other woman?
No!
Eden shut off the hot water.
