Eden looked back and saw one of the more veteran nurses nodding in approval.

“I’m not in the mood right now,” Eden said.

“Good for you,” the nurse said. “I’ll stay out of your way.”

She winked and walked away. Eden touched her own forehead, sighing. She felt bad. She felt annoyed.

Realizing she opened this can of worms by going to see Priest to begin with. Yet at the same time she really had no choice. What was the plan? Wait for Cody to really hurt her? Kidnap her?Kill her…?

Eden took comfort in the fact that Priest did send two guys to keep an eye on her.

She finished her shift and left the hospital to find Drix and Dolph waiting for her at her car. They were close enough to help if something were to happen but far enough away that they never spoke to one another.

When Eden arrived home, she showered, had a glass of wine, and then received the warning text from Liv.

WE ARE ON OUR WAY!

Eden smiled. She figured sooner than later she’d have to face Liv and Sophia. Sophia showed up. Alone.

“Where’s Liv?” Eden asked.

“Oh, I don’t know. She might be working on her taxes. Volunteering at an animal shelter. Trying to dry hump one of the bikers waiting outside your apartment.”

Eden jumped up. “No.”

“What the hell is going on? Why…”

Eden ignored Sophia and rushed outside to gather up Liv. She found her standing in between Drix and Dolph. The bikers sat on their motorcycles and Liv stroked one handlebar on each motorcycle. She tossed her hair side to side and back. Rocking her hips, almost as though she was dancing but there was no music playing.

“Olivia Dorothea,” Eden said, knowing how much Liv hated her middle name.

Liv turned and her eyes went wide.

“Inside,” Eden ordered like an angry, protective mother. “Right now.”

“I want to stay outside and play,Mom,” Liv said.

“I’m not joking,” Eden growled through gritted teeth. “NOW.”

Liv stomped away from Drix and Dolph and pushed by Eden to go inside.

Eden pointed at the bikers. “Hands off!”

Drix and Dolph both started to chuckle. Eden chased Liv into the apartment, shut the door and locked it.

“You have no idea what you’re doing, Liv,” Eden yelled.

“And you do?” Liv asked. “You’re a biker expert?”

“Why are those two guys out there?” Sophia asked. “What is happening to you?”

Eden didn’t answer right away.

Liv put her hand into the air. “I can guess.”

“No, you can’t,” Eden said. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Oh, you’re talking about it,” Sophia said. “Those men out there are dangerous.”
