“This one’s mine, Smash. Find another.” Viktor’s voice was like a bucket of ice sliding down my spine, making me fight off a shiver.
There was no hiding the goosebumps that popped out on my skin, though.
“Yeah? What are you going to do with me?” I tried to keep my tone flirty, even though being this close to him made me want to let out all the rage I’d kept burning for years.
He took my hand and twirled me in such an old school dance move it caught me off guard. “I can think of several things I could do with a woman like you, but I think we’ll start with a drink.” To punctuate the point, he nuzzled my neck, most likely marking where he wanted to bite.
“Mm, that sounds nice.” I leaned into his touch, and my dragon screamed in my head to get away from him, to make sure he bled, not us. “Maybe we should find somewhere a little more secluded?”
He led me off the dance floor, over to a row of booths that had been sunken into the wall and decorated like caverns, adding to the Dragon’s Lair theme. “What brings you out here tonight, gorgeous?”
I leaned in, playing the flirtatious, drunken, unattached naïve woman as well as I could. “Looking for a good time, mostly. Are you the kind of guy who could give that to me?”
Don’t look up, but I’m right behind him. The other two have been neutralized.
Levi’s voice in my head was soothing, like a comforting warm blanket had been draped over me.
Not to mention, every time I heard that deep, rumbling voice, it seemed to have a straight line to my libido. If hearing him helped Viktor buy into my act of wanting the vampire, I was going to lean into it.
“I’m all about good times, pretty. Why don’t you take off this mask, and we can really get this party started?”
I giggled again, the sound feeling hollow in my throat. “Isn’t it more fun to maintain the air of mystery?” I reached up and brushed my fingertips over the simple black fabric surrounding his eyes. “I think it’s sexy as hell.”
If he kisses you, I’m not going to stop at ripping off his head.
I wanted to shush him, to tell him to keep his murderous thoughts to himself, but I didn’t want to clue Viktor in on anything.
The vampire’s hand slid up my thigh, stopping just shy of the bottom hem of my dress. “Just how much fun are you looking to have?”
I grinned. “Why don’t we get out of here and find out?” I licked my lips. “I’m kind of a screamer, and I don’t know that we need the whole club hearing me.”
Viktor’s eyes flashed, and I could tell he was buying everything I was selling, at least as far as it led into his own plans. “The door to the alley’s closer than the one in the front, and my car’s not far from there. I could have you screaming in minutes.”
“Perfect.” I got up, taking a moment to noticeably run my hands over my ass under the guise of adjusting my skirt.
The growl I heard didn’t come from inside my head.
Don’t.It was one word, one command, and not nearly enough to give Viktor pause, if he even heard it.
Instead, I focused on the sway of my hips, the way I made sure to stagger and stumble just a bit, just enough to play up the supposed drunkenness.
Viktor’s hand ended up on my lower back, and I had to stop myself from shuddering as he leaned in and sniffed me. “I could’ve sworn I’ve seen you somewhere before.”
“Even in the mask?” I giggled. “Maybe in your dreams.”
“That must be it.” He steered me to the back door, pushing it open before I had a chance to second guess myself or this insane plan.
I waited until Viktor had me pressed against the wall, his lips on my neck, before I let my dragon off her internal leash.
My fingernails extended into talons, and with an angry roar, I lashed out, slicing through his throat with such a quick move, it almost surprised even me.
“You bitch!” He growled it out, groping at his neck, hardly stopping the blood flow seeping out between his fingers.
“I’m not even close to done with you. You killed my entire family. You made me feel like I was crazy for believing in vampires. You deserve so much more than a quick death.”
As I pulled off the glamour ring, wanting him to see me, his eyes grew wide, even as his mouth curved up with a vicious looking grin. “I never leave anyone alive. I should’ve been more careful with you. I won’t make that mistake again.”
He lunged, but before he could get very far, Levi was right there, pulling his arms back, holding him in place.Do you want to do the honors, or should I?
