“Where are you, Grey?” Cillian said. “It’s not like you to let someone else do the work.”

Finley’s cackle was unnatural. “You think I’m not doing the work. You think controlling multiple people isn’t work?”

Ash hated every time Finley spoke for Grey. He tore his gaze away from Finley and studied Tristian. The dragon prince stood rigid with his chin high. It was his eyes that held Ash’s focus. They weren’t staring into space. They were focused on him.

“I don’t really give a fuck.” Ash turned his attention back to Finley, even though it hurt everything he had inside of him to talk to her in such a way. “Get out of my mate.”

Finley ran her hands down her body, over her breasts and down over her hips.

Ash growled.

Her eyes were malicious, and her grin was nearly manic. He was going to destroy Grey when he was given the chance. Right now, he needed to get him out of his mate and out of Tristian.

“Maybe you’ll give a fuck about this.” Finley turned around, grabbed Tristian by the collar and yanked him down to press her lips to his.

A Battle Within

Finley was pissed off. Grey had penetrated her mind while she slept and when she woke up, she was no longer in control of anything.

But kissing Tristian in front of Ash was a new low from the damn vampire. She didn’t know if staking a vampire was how you really killed one, but she was looking forward to puncturing as many holes into him as she could manage with a stake she fashioned out of a pair of Louboutin heels.

Her lips were smashed against Tristian’s. She struggled against the hold Grey had on her. His laughter filled her head.

Go ahead and try to fight,he said in a mocking tone. You were the easiest to control, Finley. I’ve already been in your head. You’ve been mine since you were a child.

Finley willed her body to listen to her, to do something other than what Grey was doing to her.

But then she was gratefully yanked away from him.

Ash hauled her away from Tristian. Grey had her struggling against her own mate. She wanted him to just knock her unconscious so she couldn’t be a threat.

Grey was already a step ahead of everyone. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a butterfly blade. Her wrist and fingers moved like an experienced dancer, opening the blade. She was already driving it back toward Ash’s torso before she could even fully comprehend what was happening.

But then they were hit hard by a freight train. Finley grunted as she landed. Her wrist was slammed onto the ground and the knife flew out of her hand.

Chaos erupted.

Two dragons filled the space of Sea Glass to the point where everyone else was pressed to the walls of the bar. Chairs and tables were crushed as the two of them circled each other, debris going in every direction.

Finley could only see a deep green dragon butt with a swishing tail. She ducked as it whooshed over her head. She lost her footing. Fighting for control over her body and avoiding being clobbered was difficult.

Grey’s hold on Finley eased and she was able to scramble to safety on her own. The moment he’d reached into her mind, she’d felt the familiar presence there. She’d never remembered him being in her head, but now she knew she never would forget it.

She scanned the bar looking for Syrena. The witch had to have an idea. If this all started with magic, maybe it could be fixed with magic.

She crawled across the floor, ducking behind the bar as another loud crash startled her.

Uh uh uh, little one. I’m here to stay. You’re mine.

His voice slithered inside of her, keeping his hold on her. Finley squeezed her eyes shut and pushed herself to her feet. “No.”

Laughter filled her mind and fury filled her belly.

Ooo, did I hit a button? I’m getting all sorts of angry.

“Get out of my head.”
