I’m afraid not. You belong to me.
“I don’t belong to anyone, but if I did it wouldn’t be to you.”
To who then? The dragon?
Her dragon, who was currently destroying Sea Glass, was the only one she wanted to belong to.
Whoa. She’d been so torn up with everything that was happening between the Dragon Fire, her sister, and learning about all things dragons and magical.
She did want to be his. She wanted him to claim her.
This was a hell of a time to realize it. When he was a one-dragon demolition crew and she was being controlled by a vampire. How was she going to get out of this?
You’re not.
Grey’s growly voice was still in her head, listening to everything she was thinking. She didn’t know anything about vampires. How to stop them? Dragon Fire had given him the edge to take hold of her. What would stop him?
Finley gasped and pulled her limbs into her body when a loud explosion engulfed the bar. There was flying debris, people yelling, a dragon roared, and the other answered in a growl. A fire burst went right over Finley’s head, exploding the bottles of alcohol everywhere. It was raining drops of flames everywhere around her. She couldn’t even see what was going on, but it sounded like a warzone on the other side of the bar.
Shit. Shit, shit, shit.
She needed to get the hell out of there.
Save yourself if you can, little one.
His presence fell back away from her and she felt the release of her body. She wanted to let out a breath of relief, but it was temporary. Finley yelped as bits of fire landed on her skin. She frantically brushed it off and pressed back further under the bar. After a few breaths, trying to regain some control, she spotted a soda gun sitting in its harness just above her head. She reached up and grabbed the gun, shooting at the closest clump of fire, and it went out.
The dragons sounded further away and less like they were enclosed in a small space. She quickly cleared a path as much as she could through the fire and scurried out from behind the bar.
When she came around she saw the utter devastation of the Sea Glass. Not only were all the table settings completely trampled into matchsticks, but the back wall had a giant hole in it. There were things on fire everywhere and the building structure was completely compromised.
Unsure of what else to do, she ran out the front door, not wanting to get caught in any of the fiery debris. She cautiously moved around the building and that was when she saw Ash’s green dragon roaring fire at a very scary white dragon.
Finley quickly glanced around to see how much of an audience they had. This wasn’t a thing you could hide in the middle of a Miami beach. At least it was late and not many beach goers at two in the morning, but with all of this ruckus, they were going to get noticed.
She glanced around for any of the other dragons, Syrena, or even Cillian.
Someone grabbed her arms from behind her and yanked them back painfully. She let out a whimper.
“Not so fast, Grey.”
It was Cillian.
“He doesn’t have control of me right now. He let me go so I could get out of there. I think he wanted to see if I could do it.”
“No offense, but I don’t know you well enough to know if you’re you, or Grey pretending to be you.”
Finley sighed and eased her struggle. “That’s fair.” She glanced around. “Where’s Syrena?”
“Why?”
“If magic did this, magic can undo it. I think Syrena is the key to all of this. Otherwise, Grey wouldn’t be paired up with Tabitha.”
“I don’t think it’s that’s easy,” Cillian replied. “She’s been trying.”
Finley glanced over her shoulder at the vampire.
“Can you get into people’s minds?”
