That was all he needed.

It’s Magic, You Know

Another month later…

Finley stared at the ceiling of her bedroom from the floor. She’d been doing yoga trying to clear her mind to start her day. She hadn’t slept well. Her thoughts kept drifting back to Ash. She missed the weight of the tourmaline on her wrist. And the taste of his lips on hers.

She knew she wouldn’t hear from him again. He’d gotten what he wanted.

Finley grabbed her camera bag out of her closet and headed for the kitchen. Olivia was gone on another photoshoot somewhere, Dubai, possibly, she couldn’t remember.

Her phone buzzed as she waited for her coffee to brew.

Unknown: Tell your security guard to let me up.

Finley: Who is this?

The phone rang and it was the front desk.

“Hello?”

“Ms. Sawyer, it’s Jimmy. Ash Wystan is here to see you.”

Finley sighed. What the hell did he want now? “You can let him up. Thank you, Jimmy.”

Her foot tapped. Her nails drummed on the counter as she listened to the whirl of the elevator coming up thirteen floors. The building could label it fourteen all they wanted; she knew how to count, and numbers didn’t just magically disappear.

The doors parted and Ash stepped into her apartment.

Finley ran her hands down her tank top, smoothing the wrinkles. She wasn’t dressed to impress. She wanted to be comfortable for taking pictures.

Ash stopped in front of her. She noticed his eyes drifting down her figure and then slowly back up until he locked in on her eyes.

“What can I do for you, Ash?” she asked, keeping her voice cool and clipped.

Ash leaned against the frame of the kitchen, crossing his arms over his chest. Finley couldn’t dissect the expression on his face, especially not aimed directly at her, but she would’ve described it for anyone else as possessive.

“You headed out?”

She shivered, forgetting how his deep baritone voice affected her. Considering she hadn’t planned on ever seeing him again, his arrival now was screwing with her brain and her libido.

“I am.”

“May I come with you?”

She blinked at him. “You came over here to ask if you could come with me?”

“I wanted to see you. I don’t have an agenda beyond that.”

“Why did you want to see me?” Finley headed over to the coffee pot and pulled down a to-go cup. She got out her mocha peppermint creamer out of the refrigerator. She could feel Ash’s gaze on her as she moved around her kitchen.

She turned around holding her coffee and cocked an eyebrow waiting for him to reply. The urge to take in his hot form was almost overwhelming, but she kept her gaze locked on his green eyes.

“You going to speak?”

“My brother told me to come see you.”

“Why?”
