Page 31 of Choosing Me

I slide my hand across the table, palm up, my stomach warming as Wilson reaches over and takes it. “We’ve been together for a while now and during that time you’ve made me a better and stronger person. You encourage me and stand by my side. I think my favorite thing about you is that you’re just as spontaneous and fun as me. Our adventures are so much fun and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.”

As I speak, Wilson’s eyes grow wider and wider. He bites his bottom lip to keep in a giggle, looking around the room. He leans forward. “What the fuck are you doing?”

I give him a cheeky wink before whispering, “just trust me?”

He leans back in his seat. “Always.”

“Wilson Antonio Joseph Thompson Priestly,” I say, letting my voice ring out louder so that the tables around us notice. People stop eating, turning to look at us. Bingo.

“That’s not even my name, asshole,” Wilson hisses out so only I can hear him, narrowing his eyes at me. I shush him before going on.

“You are the alpha I always dreamed of meeting when I was but a little boy,” I say, really letting my voice take on an edge of emotion. I stand up and without letting go of Wilson’s hand I walk around the table until I’m standing in front of his seat. “You have made me the absolute luckiest omega in the entire world,” I say before dropping down onto one knee. I pull out a ring box from my coat, opening it off and showing off the plastic ring I recently won at the arcade inside. “You’ve already made me so goddamn lucky by just having you in my life but would you please consider taking this a step further and becoming my husband and my mate?”

The entire room is silent and I can feel everyone’s eyes on us, holding their breaths for Wilson’s answer. I smile up at him, batting my lashes a few times.

Finally he lets out a long sigh. “Oh mygod,” he says, his voice a higher pitch than I’m used to, really getting into character. “Yes, yes, yes! A thousand times yes, Calvin!”

I stand up, pulling him along with me as we tug each other into a tight embrace. He kisses my cheek before putting his lips to my ear. “The next time we do this I’m the one giving the speech and you’re the one who has to be the excited newly engaged one.”

I pull back with a smile that stretches from ear to ear. I might have just put on the performance of a lifetime but not all of my words were a lie. Knowing Wilson truly makes me feel like one of the luckiest omegas alive. Knowing him makes my life better and I’m so fucking glad he took me back after I ran away. I’ll forever work at making him feel loved and appreciated, the same he does for me. “Deal.”

We sit back down just as our waiter comes rushing back over. “Congratulations! My manager saw the entire thing and wishes to pay for your meals as a newly engaged gift.”

“Thank you so much,” I tell him with a wide smile. “That’s extremely kind of you!”

I look over at Wilson and give him a wink. Works every time.

“Would you mind bringing us another bottle of wine?” Wilson asks, giving me the best innocent eyes he can muster. “To celebrate our engagement.”

“You got it!”

Oh, he issogoing to pay tonight. And god, do I look forward to it.
