Without a second thought, I rushed toward him and threw myself into his arms, kissing him.
“You’re early,” I muttered between kisses, feeling his smile spread against my lips.
“I missed you too fucking much,” he mumbled, nibbling on my lower lip. “Your father will forgive me.”
He opened the door for me, and I slipped inside, Maddox following.
As soon as the door shut, his hand found its way to my thigh, caressing it with a possessiveness. He kept it there for the entire drive home.
“How is he?”
“He’ll be fine.”
Maddox’s gaze stayed focused on the road, but his fingers tapped rhythmically on my thigh.
“He looks better,” he added.
“How do you know?” I asked, a playful smile tugging at my lips. His own smile struggled to break free.
“I visited him last week.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, so you’re becoming besties now, huh?”
He squeezed my thigh, his grin widening.
“I have no choice now, do I?”
He pulled into our building’s parking lot, the familiar, quiet hum of the place always making me feel at home.
I had learned by now that if I tried to open the door myself, there would be consequences. And while I might like those consequences, tonight, I decided to play nice.
So I waited patiently, watching as he came around the car to open my door, offering me his hand. I gladly accepted, feeling a warmth in his touch that was far more than physical.
Together, we headed toward the elevator. Once inside, Maddox pressedthe button for the 20th floor.
Our floor. Our space. It was more than just an apartment—it was our sanctuary.
The whole floor was ours, with no one else able to access it without the special code that only Maddox and I knew.
A secret only we shared.
His arm stayed wrapped around my waist the entire ride up, and I couldn’t wait to get inside. To feel him closer.
The pregnancy had only heightened my desire, not dampened it.
Every day, the hunger to have him more—grew.
And tonight, I wasn’t planning on holding back.
As soon as the elevator chimed, signaling we had reached our floor, Maddox stepped aside, making way for me to exit first, the gentleman that he was.I didn’t even wait for him to take more than a few steps before I turned, throwing myself into his arms. Our lips met hungrily, a need rising between us that I couldn’t control. My hands fumbled, impatiently unbuttoning his shirt.
He chuckled, his breath hot against my lips as he caught my hands, lifting them higher around his neck.
“So needy for me all the time, aren’t you, baby?”
His teasing smile melted away any lingering thoughts. I kissed him harder, desperate, my hands now tangled in his hair.
