Mitch put his father and what was going to happen in the back of his mind. Having Byron by his side was all he needed. He should have told his father to fuck of years ago. Byron gave him the strength to do that without making him feel weak.

Mitch passed his keys to Byron and let him unlock and open the door. He’d had such a relaxing few days and he wanted to get that back. He wanted to be Byron’s boy again.

“I know just what you need,” Byron said as he led Mitch into the condo.

Mitch stopped in the hall.

The living room light was on. He could hear the television as well.

Grant and Caleb were supposed to check on his place and drop off his car, but he hadn’t expected them to be there now.

“What’s-" Byron came up behind him after closing and locking the door. “Stay here.”

Mitch didn’t listen. He followed behind Byron as his Daddy stepped into the living room.

“You’ve got to be kidding me!” Byron shouted. “Mitch stay back.”

“Who is it?” Mitch could see someone sitting on his couch, he just couldn’t tell who it was.

“Stay back,” Byron growled at him.

He was going to get his butt busted later but Mitch had to know what was going on. He did stay behind Byron but peered around him.

Mac sat sprawled out on his couch with two kittens on his chest. He’d been watching a local news channel but now he was grinning up at Byron.

Oh God, those kittens were so cute. Mitch had always thought about getting a pet. He hadn’t because of the excessive hours he worked. Now maybe it would be possible though. And a cat would be easy to move from his condo to Byron’s house. Oh! He wanted a cat. Or a kitten-like Mac had.

Maybe two. That way his pet wouldn’t get lonely during the day.

“Hey guys, about time you got home.” Mac lazily stroked his finger down the back of the black kitten, who purred in response.

Mitch wanted to hold them! He practically danced in place. He knew better though then to leave Mitch’s side. Especially with Mitch is full Daddy mode.

“What are you doing here?” Byron barked.

Mitch ducked back behind Byron. That was his mad Daddy voice.

“I saw Mitch’s father hanging around the parking garage. I figured Mitch had notified security that his father wasn’t welcome. I was just making sure that he didn’t cause Mitch any further problems.”

“Where were you a few minutes ago?” Byron demanded.

Mac shrugged. “I figured you had it covered.”

Byron growled before he took a step forward.

Mitch grabbed one of his back belt loops. He didn’t want to see who would win between his Daddy and the hit-man.

“Can I… can I see the kittens?

Mac grinned. “They’re cute. What are their names?”

“Names?” Mitch asked. Mac didn’t know his own kitten's names? And why did he bring them to Mitch’s condo? Did he need Mitch to watch them? That would be so cool!

Byron sighed but he finally moved further into the living room so Mitch could clearly see Mac and the kittens.

“It was supposed to be a surprise. The kittens are why we needed to come by here tonight. Caleb picked them up from the local shelter for us.”

Mitch grabbed a hold of Byron’s arm. “Mine? My kittens?”
