He’d left the precinct barely telling his partner that he had to go.
The need to see his boy and make sure Caleb was okay was riding him. He ripped the keys from the engine before slamming his door open. He raced up the stairs and pounded on Caleb’s door. He waited a few seconds before pounding again.
“Come on! Answer!” Grant muttered. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed Caleb’s number. Straight to voicemail just like it had been doing for the past several hours.
Remembering when Caleb had shown him where he kept a hidden key in the backyard Grant jogged off.
Grant hurried to the side of the house and the gate leading to the back door. He opened the latch and slipped into the back. He needed to get Caleb better security. His boy’s house was too accessible. As he strolled toward the back he was already making plans on how to beef up the security for his boy.
He wouldn’t leave Caleb vulnerable.
Grant pulled the keys from under a gnome mooning him. He smiled for the first time in hours. Caleb had a thing for the ugliest gnomes and had them all around the back yard. The décor didn’t match the inside of the house. The outside was more of his boy’s hidden personality.
He knocked on the back door before he slid the key into the lock. When Caleb didn’t come to the door he went ahead and pushed the door open. The kitchen light was on and there was an obvious sign that something was majorly wrong.
“Caleb!” he shouted in a panic. Gun in his hand before he even knew it.
Grant ran through the kitchen and into the living room before stopping in his tracks. The living room was destroyed. A complete disaster. Had someone broken in? Where was his boy?
“Caleb! Baby answer me!” Grant yelled. He ran to Caleb’s bedroom. Where his boy felt the safest.
The bedroom door was closed and he threw it open.
Only to be greeted with five furry faces but not Caleb.
“Hey guys,” Grant crouched down and gave out of pats and loves to the stressed animals. “Where’s your Daddy?”
Lucy barked then walked over to the closest.
Grant rose then followed behind the dog.
Caleb’s room was still in order but the closest was as much of a mess as the living room and kitchen. His pretty clothes were on the floor shredded and torn.
Had Caleb done this?
But where was his boy?
His phone ringing made him jump. Grant pulled out the device praying it would be Caleb.
He didn’t feel any relief to see the number for the club.
“Hello?” he barked.
“Grant? It’s Finn.”
“Hey man,” Grant said as he peered back around the closest. “What’s up?” He hoped it wasn’t bad news. The owner of the club didn’t call him often.
“I have a lost boy here and I think he needs you.”
“Caleb?” Grant whispered his boy’s name.
“Yes. I don’t know what happened but that boy is a mess. He had way too much to drink before I found him. I managed to get him into my office before he caused too much trouble but I’m dealing with several pissed off Doms.”
Grant didn’t get a fuck about the Doms. “Is my boy alright?”
“Physically? Yes. Mentally? Far from it.”
“I’m on my way,” Grant said. “Don’t let him leave.”
