Page 37 of Mine, Forever

“I’ve never heard of Carbon. Where is it?”

York pulled open a drawer and dragged out a small black box. He tapped on a screen a few times and threw it to me.

“Here.”

I looked down at the screen. “You just happened to have a Navman in the drawer?”

“Why are you still here?” York asked, looking up at me from the cell in his hand.

I walked out plugging in my destination into the Navman. It calculated my route instantly. Hopping into the Lincoln, I drove to the location on the outskirts of the city.

Stopping outside the building, I took in the rest of the area. A few buildings were open around it, but for the most part, Carbon looked like the only operating building out here.

The door opened, and a man walked out to greet me.

“Ebony? Come on in.”

I followed him inside. The interior was decorated in dark blue furniture, and mesh netting blocked off a closed-in area to the side. A circular bar was in the center of the room.

“York told you why I’m here?”

“Sure. Take a seat.”

Chaz knew not to mess with me. He was careful about what he said, never gave too much away.

“Tell me about Ty.”

“He’s smart but also dumb. Speaks too much and impulsively acts.”

“Why is he talking about Jett behind his back?”

Chaz sighed. “He has grand plans. To be honest, he’s a lot like Jett. Wants to have his own organization and thinks this is the way to do it.”

“Where is he?”

“He’ll be in soon to set up for the night.”

“I’ll stick around until then.”

I could tell Chaz was dubious, but he didn’t say anything. He just showed me around the club and explained the kind of clientele they pulled in. He didn’t step one foot out of line the entire time and almost seemed a little scared to explain some things to me which I liked. I liked this power I seemed to have over them.

Ty came in shortly after Chaz had left me alone in the club to do some paperwork. He had a certain swagger that didn’t quite sit right. He acted like he was the boss which I didn’t like one bit.

Chaz strode over to him, probably to warn him about me. Ty’s gaze fell on me, a smirk appearing on his face. Chaz didn’t even look in my direction when he walked back to his office leaving me with Ty who slowly made his way over to me.

“Heard you wanted to talk to me.”

“Yeah. Do you have somewhere private to talk?”

I’d thought about the best way to get Ty to come over to the apartment so that I could do the deed in private. I had so many ideas but not the faintest idea how to execute them.

He looked me up and down as if I were for purchase. Biting his lower lip, he nodded, before smiling. “Ain’t you Jett’s girl?”

I quickly realized he was someone I could manipulate with my body. Just like most little kids with power egos, he thought everyone wanted him.

I got up real close to him so I could feel the heat radiating off his body and leaned in close to his ear. “I don’t belong to anybody.”

He motioned to a door over on the wall. Following his lead, I tried to keep my senses about me. Ty could easily overpower me, and Chaz didn’t seem the type to come to my aid, so I needed to play this game better than Ty.
