“Helping you,” he deadpans as he continues to type. My phone begins to vibrate.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Tanner: I have an idea on how we can help Jacks get his girl back

Tanner: But I think you’re going to have to get Poppy’s help

Tanner: You think she would help us

Logan: Good morning to you too.

Logan: Depends. What’s your idea?

Jacks: Do I get a say in this?

Tanner: No

Logan: No.

Tanner: Can y’all kick Lacey out of your car

I look at Tanner. “I’m standing right next to you. This is fucking stupid man.”

“No it’s not. If we text, she can’t hear us talking about the plan,” he whispers. I roll my eyes.

Logan: I mean sure, but who would she ride with? The plan is for me to take the girls back to their apartment.

Tanner: She’ll ride with Jacks and get some much needed alone time

Jacks: And how will you two dumbasses convince her to do that?

“I drove you here. Who are you going to ride with?” Tanner looks up at me and then gestures back at his phone. I let out a long breath. Why is he so fucking annoying? I walk away from my roommate and plop down on my bed before beginning to type again.

Jacks: Tanner, I drove you here. Who will you ride with?

Logan: We could tell her it’s supposed to rain and that we need the back of the truck for our luggage? We put everything in the bed on the way up.

Tanner: Fucking brilliant dude

Tanner: I’ll make Wren drive me home

Jacks: What makes you think she’ll agree to that?

Tanner: There won’t be room in your Jeep with you two love birds and all your luggage

Logan: I’m on it!

I look over at Tanner and he’s smiling like a fucking idiot. I can’t deny his plan is genius. We’re two hours from home and I can’t think of a better way to spend the drive back than with Lacey.

I finish my cup of coffee and head back downstairs to help with the final tasks that need to be completed before we leave the cabin. Logan and Enzo are standing in the kitchen talking. Donovan rounds the corner carrying his luggage.

“Have you talked to Poppy and Lacey about the weather?” I ask.

“Not yet. Poppy was finishing up getting ready,” Logan says.

“What about the weather?” Enzo asks.

“Oh, we might have to rearrange who is riding with who because it’s supposed to rain,” Logan explains.
