Donovan walks over and looks out the window. “There isn’t a cloud in the sky. You sure?”

Logan and my eyes meet each other. I quickly try to direct my gaze elsewhere, but Donovan catches us.

“Wait, what’s going on?” he asks.

“Nothing,” I answer too quickly.

“Spill the tea, boys,” Enzo laughs.

Tanner walks back into the kitchen. “Mornin’ fellas,” he says. “What are y’all talking about?”

“Logan and Jacks were about to tell us why they think it might rain later,” Enzo says.

Tanner starts to laugh. “Might as well let them in on it. We could probably use their help.”

I look around the space and none of the girls are nearby. “Logan and Tanner are helping me get Lacey back,” I say.

“We want in,” Enzo says.

“Yeah, what’s the plan?” Donovan asks.

I fill them in on the car plan and they agree to go along with our little ruse. Tanner adds both of them to the group text. We finish taking out the trash and Logan starts the dishwasher. Poppy rounds the corner, and Lacey and Wren make their way downstairs.

“Could y’all help me with my luggage?” Poppy asks. Logan nods and heads toward their room, pausing to place a kiss on her forehead. Wren walks an armful of towels over to the laundry room and starts a load.

“Is there anything else we need to do before we head out?” Lacey asks.

“No, I think we got everything,” Donovan says.

Logan appears, holding Poppy’s luggage and sets it by the door. “Wren and Lacey, are y’all’s things upstairs?”

They nod.

“I’ll go grab it,” Tanner shouts, running by all of us and up the stairs.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Tanner: Show time baby! Let’s FUCKINGGG go!

I silently chuckle to myself. If this works, I’ll be shocked.

“Lacey, you mind riding back with Jacks? It’s supposed to rain and I don’t want our stuff to get wet in the bed of the truck,” Logan says.

Lacey and Poppy glance at each other. “Rain?” Poppy asks.

“Yeah. Are you sure?” Lacey adds, walking over to the window and looking up at the very blue and very clear sky.

“Yep, my app says it’s supposed to hit on the drive home. I don’t want to chance it.”

She looks at me skeptically. “If I ride with you, then who will Tanner ride with?”

“Wren,” Tanner says, stepping off the bottom step and making his way over to the door.

Wren’s face immediately falls and she glances over to the other girls.

“Tanner isn’t going to bother Wren for two hours. Donovan y’all have more than enough space for Tanner, right?” Lacey says.

“Sure do,” Enzo says.
