Jazzy stepped in front of Rogue, crossed her arms over her chest, and spoke to Kodiak. “Your fingers are still bloody from sewing on those Heller colors. There is a lot of Heller history you don’t know shit about. She’s one of us. Don’t fucking disrespect her again.”
“We’re done for tonight.” Blue laced our fingers, but his gaze was on Cruz. His head tipped just enough to impart some secret information. What the fuck were they plotting?
I had to walk fast to keep up with him. He stormed down the hall, shoved open the door to his room, waited for me to come in, and then slammed the door closed.
Chapter Fifteen
Blue
I shouldn’t have brought her to the MC because I should’ve realized Kodiak, Vega, and Steele would recognize her. I made a lot of fucking assumptions when it came to Kiss and the Hellers. Like that she’d be safe with me. I never expected someone who professed to be a brother would be the one to call her out.
Now, everyone was going to spill the fucking tea on anything Kiss. I hated to think about how Levi would feel if they brought up Kiss’s history with Romeo. At least, I could count on Jazzy to set anyone straight who wanted to talk trash on any Hellers, especially her girls.
“Blue?”
I spun around at the sound of her voice.
Just looking at her took my breath. She was that perfect blend of femininity and badass biker babe. She wore makeup but didn’t care when it smudged her eyes. She styled her hair just to have it blown apart on the back of my bike.
Tonight, her blonde hair framed her face and fell in loose curls around her shoulders. I didn’t know what I expected, fear, maybe pissed, but not this. Calmness relaxed her features. Her mouth hinted at a smile, and there wasn’t a trace of resentment in her eyes.
“You can’t protect me from my past.” With a hand braced on the wall, she toed off her shoes. “People are going to make assumptions.”
“You shouldn’t have to pay for it for the rest of your life, either.” I’d watched Kodiak snort blow off of Bristol’s tits at Indulgence. He’d patched into the Hellers, but I wasn’t sure he’d left the Crawler lifestyle behind the way Steele and Vega had. Kodiak was still looking for trouble. If he talked shit about Kiss again, he was going to find it.
She braced her hands on her hips and stared me down. “Kodiak chose the wrong time to confront me. But he’s not wrong to want to question my loyalty.”
“He and his fucking Crawlers were putting heroin in your veins. Fuck him.” I rolled my shoulders, let go of the tension firing through my muscles, and remembered she wasn’t the one I was pissed at.
“Iput heroin in my veins.Me. I smoked meth, popped pills, OD’d on the bathroom floor, and because I love you, I’m not going to remind you of the disgusting things I did to get high.”
She approached me and, with a gentle shove and a laugh, pushed me down on the bed. “We’re going to have to come to a compromise,” she said.
“I don’t negotiate when it comes to you.” I leaned back on my elbows.
“Caring about me doesn’t mean you get to take on my past as your own.” She climbed onto my lap, straddled my hips, and hovered over me.
“You don’t know me if you think I’m going to let someone call you a cunt and not knock their teeth down their fucking throat.”
She tilted her head, and her hair tumbled down around her face. “Kodiak doesn’t know me sober. Heknows me as aCrawler cuntwilling to do anything for black. Secrets are going to destroy me, Blue. Tomorrow, I’m going to talk to Blade. As president, he has to do what he thinks is best for the club, even if that means asking me to leave.”
I flopped onto my back and gripped her hips. “If you go, then I go, too.”
“I can love you, and we can be together, and I don’t have be a Heller. Sully and Heather prove you can have both.” Her brows pinched as she rested her hands on my chest and traced my sternum.
Palming her ass, I settled her snug against my pelvis. “I don’t want what Sully and Heather have.”
I wanted her in my bed every night. I wanted inside her. Fuck, I had bae goals. I’d put herbefore anyone else. It’s what Bullet had with Stormy, what Rogue, Blade and Dozer had with their old ladies. Romeo and Levi were next level with a kid.
I wasn’t fucking ready for that.
“All I’m saying is that situations like tonight wouldn’t happen if I wasn’t keeping secrets,” she said. “No one would have power over me if I wasn’t trying to hide my skeletons.”
I stilled at her word.Skeletons. Especially tonight. I started to sit up, so she slid off my lap and sat next to me. When the silence lingered between us, she asked, “Did you want to have another game of truth or dare pool?”
No, I needed to tell her that I couldn’t live with the shit inside my head anymore. I was like a volcano waiting to erupt. Most of the time, on the outside, nothing seemed wrong. But it was a fucking lie. Rage simmered just beneath the surface. I needed to release the pressure on Carl Douglas.
“I talked to Cruz tonight.” I rolled onto my side and plucked at the threads in her cut up jeans. “Cruz has a way of simplifying any situation.”
