I instantly spot his smiling face in our usual spot with two cups in front of him and feel my body already humming from his proximity. The fact that he still makes time for me a few mornings a week before work never gets old.

I’m bouncing on air as I approach the corner table. Before I have a chance to sit, he stands and wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me in for a kiss.

“Morning, beautiful.”

“Hi,” I respond, breathlessly.

He holds on a few seconds longer. When he does let me go, I take my seat across from him and smile as he pushes a chocolate chip cookie across the table to me.

“Ooo, they’re warm,” I comment, taking a bit of the delicious gooiness and hum in approval.

“God, I wish it was me making you moan like that,” Logan grunts and shifts uncomfortably.

We still haven’t gone all the way. I swear this man has the patience of a saint, and I love him for it.

Deciding to push my luck, I reply, with a saucy grin, “It could be.”.

“Jesus Christ. I think you’re trying to kill me. We’re in public. At least let me finish my coffee.”

“That coffee is not going to save you,” I tease.

“I’ve met my match.” He gulps his cup. “God save my soul.”

“So, what’re your weekend plans?”

“Ryker and I are going to the range later, then probably throwing some steaks on the grill and relaxing.” He pauses and looks at me pensively. “If you want to come by, the more, the merrier.”

“Ah, I forgot you said he was back in town this weekend. I’ll probably spend time catching up on reading while Piper naps. I’ve got Kelsey and Zoey’s latest books to catch up on.”

“Oh, for fuck sake.” He chuckles and raises a brow at me. “I forgot you read their stuff.”

“Of course, I do!Hot Cop...Or Notwas the first book I read of Kelsey’s and when Zoey told me she was her best friend? Ha! I got a whole set of their books from Zoey as a gift before the triplets left the NICU.”

Logan lets out a painful groan. “I heard all about that book. Jesus. I’m not sure how I feel about you reading some of the stuff they come up with. Isn’t it weird, because you know them?”

“Oooohhhhh.” I laugh. “I get it. You won’t read them because you think they’re all about your friends?”

“I don’t read them because I hear enough about the shit that goes on with them at work. I tried. Once. I couldn’t do it.” He lowers his voice and looks around. “Don’t tell them, but I buy a copy of every release, you know...in a silent show of support and all that, but hell no. I’m not reading them. Ever.” He shakes his head and gags.

“Wow. That’s pretty sweet, actually. And you’re a dork. They don’t always write about Rhys and Dylan.”

Briefly raising his hands in surrender, he laughs before taking another drink of his coffee, emptying his cup. “I’m good. Honest. I’ll take your word for it. Anyway, my offer still stands to come by. You can bring Piper. Hell, we can make a whole thing of it. I’ll call and invite Rhys and Smitty too.”

“Whoa, what’s happened to you, Mister I’m Allergic to Kids?”

He smirks and checks his watch. “Don’t worry. I’ll double up on the allergy meds. I should get going.”

We walk out to my new car together, with his hand on the small of my back as it often is. Unsure of what his next move may be, I press the key fob and reach for the door handle, but he stops me. Spinning me around to face him, he wraps his arms around my body and encases me in a bear hug before pressing a kiss to my lips.

When he pulls back, he looks me in the eyes and speaks softly, “I want you to come over this weekend.” One more kiss between us and then he opens my car door for me. “Drive safe.”

“I will,” I tell him as I slip into the driver’s seat and fasten my seatbelt.

“Toodles, pretty girl.” He smiles and winks at me, pushing my door shut.
