The same could be said for Rose and Trevor. Rose probably loved her husband. But her husband loved money. And that greed was going to destroy one of them. If Raz had his way, it would be the man next to him who got destroyed.
“What made you cheat?” Raz asked Trevor.
“Mr. Cattaneo, is there a reason you want to know these things?”
“Do you want the money or not?”
“I do. I do. I, uh, cheated because I... she... her body changed.”
Raz chuckled as he watched Rose stare around the lobby, still patiently waiting on her husband.
“What’s wrong with her body?”
“She gained weight.”
He’d be better off just admitting that he couldn’t handle a real woman.
Smiling, Raz asked, “So you stopped fucking her and found skinnier women to fuck?”
“Yes. Not just that. I found women who looked at me and saw a man.”
Now, they were getting to the truth. Rose looked at him and saw him for what he truly was. But if that was the case, why hadn’t she left? Though she didn’t know it, staying for the sake of family had almost gotten her killed. Perhaps it had gotten her something worse than death, him. She was now on Orazio Cattaneo’s radar. That could be a blessing or a curse for her.
“I’ll buy her for the price you owe my brother. No more. No less.”
“Yes, sir.”
“But I have some conditions.”
“Whatever it is, I’ll do it.”
“First, if she dies, you die.”
“Huh?”
“What did I tell you about thathuhshit?”
“I mean, okay. She won’t die. Not by my hands or anyone I know.”
“If she dies of natural causes before she’s mine, you die.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Divorce her as soon as possible.”
“But...”
“Do it or die. If I have to say it again, you’ll leave here with one nut.”
Trevor’s lips snapped shut.
“Tonight, you’ll take her home and then leave. You won’t spend another night with her, got it?”
Trevor raised his hand like a fucking school kid.
“What?” Raz growled.
“It’s our anniversary.”
