Page 136 of Savage Bosses

I decided to be brave and remove the bow. It was easy to open the top. It fell backward, and it opened up and revealed a black cardboard chest that held five drawers. I opened the top drawer and removed a flat item wrapped in white tissue paper and sealed with a circular gold sticker with a number 1 on it.

Clearly, it was something made of cloth. I sat it on the table and peeled the sticker to reveal something red. I lifted the piece of clothing in the air and let it drop. I was speechless for a few seconds. It was a dress, a red dress that was similar to the one my asshole boss spilled drinks on.

“A red dress,” Jordyn stated the obvious. “Well, we know who sent that over here?”

“Do we?”

“I’m not about to do this with you.”

“Okay yeah, I’m just shocked.”

“Gimme.” Jordyn snatched the dress from my hands and gently placed it over the back of the chair. “Open the next drawer today, please.”

I opened the second drawer and there was something packaged exactly the same with a number 2 sticker. Without any hesitation, I opened the second package. Another red dress, it was even more beautiful than the other. I handed the dress over to Jordyn.

“This is nice.” She recited, placing the other dress over the back of the chair.

I didn’t have to be told to go to drawer number three. I repeated my steps and there was another red dress, this one was sequined.

“What the hell is going on here?” I asked, while handing the third dress to my bestie.

“This man likes you.”

“No, that mean ass man hates me.”

“Men who hate you don’t buy you expensive gifts.” Jordyn pulled the price tag out of the third dress and placed it in my face.

“Jesus, does that say three thousand five hundred dollars?”

“Yes, ma’am, it sure does.”

“Why would he spend that much to replace a simple red dress?”

“Cuz, he wants some coochie.”

“No way.”

“Yes way, don’t act slow. I hate when you act like that.” She smirked.

“No, no, I’m just trying to come to terms with the fact that you might be right.”

“Please do.”

“Is he that immature that he’s mean to me because he likes me?” I asked.

“Well, it wouldn’t be the first time a man has been an asshole because he likes a woman and doesn’t know how to express that in a normal human fashion.”

I opened drawer number four and handed it over to Jordyn. “Open this one.”

I opened the last gift, and the fifth one housed a black dress. Jordyn held up another red dress.

“Well, all I can say is you look really good in red, Ms. Riding Hood. You going to ride on the D?”

“No, of course not.”

“Uh.” She hissed.

Jordyn just had to get the last word.
